A historic moment for the Maldives. Velana International Airport today welcomed the inaugural direct flight from Melbourne, our first-ever direct air link with Australia.

As part of Government’s ongoing initiative to diversify tourism and following the recent announcement of islands for halal tourism development, State Minister Dr. Abdulla Niyaz and State Minister Nashath Rasheed, together with senior officials, met with the International Halal Tourism Organization @IHTOglobal to discuss collaboration and working together to develop this new and growing segment of halal tourism in the Maldives.

The closing ceremony and certificate handover for the third batch of the Standard First Aid Training Program was held on 9th May 2026 at Cyryx College, Malé. A total of 26 participants from resorts across Kaafu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaalu, Dhaalu, and Baa Atolls successfully completed the three-day training.
Deputy Minister Hassan Suwad, speaking at the ceremony, highlighted the importance of continuity in applying and refining the knowledge and skills gained, both in the workplace and in everyday life.
