Sweet story about my dad. He was one of the last people I told about how desperate the situation was in my marriage because I knew he would want to kill him. My dad was a really good man. He wasn’t always able to see things objectively, so there was rarely much emotional give when it came to understanding and engaging with people. I had grown into being his prison guard - the one who would protect him from himself and from the irritation and lack of understanding from the rest of the family. This didn’t always serve me well, but I knew him better than most, and I could predict well that he wouldn’t handle this situation the way I needed. That said, I waited nearly a year to tell him the details my mom and I had ruminated over. But when I did, I saw a feeling of sickness roll over him that made us both sad. The day after this talk, I left their home in NC and drove back to the mess that was my life. Along the way, he called me and said, “I can’t stop thinking about everything you shared with me. I’m so so sorry and I wish I could rewind back to the moment I held you in my arms for the first time. I want to protect that sweet innocent baby today just like I did when you became mine. I love you and your mom and I are here for you.” I wish you all had a dad like mine…he wasn’t perfect and I’m still working through some of the things his lack of emotional health afforded me, but he showed up when it mattered most. Oh and like any good dad wanting to protect his daughter, a week later he did threaten to feed him to alligators. I knew my dad and I’m so glad I did.

@MouselMichael Not sure and I sick at math lol. There are Bibles specifically laid out for 365 days and there are lots of reading plans. I am doing the one called The Bible Recap on the Bible app. It’s great!

When you’re slogging through the book of Deuteronomy for your Bible-in-a-year plan, you swim over to some encouragement from Paul to keep you going lol
