@MarcSettle We’re rebuilding MoviePro to be a professional recording and workflow tool, not just “high-end camera app.” We are not competing with Blackmagic or similar apps that exist to emulate cinema cameras. The focus is on reliable, intent-driven workflows for real-world recording.

@MarcSettle An advantage small teams have right now is faster iteration — AI can be a strong helping hand to a clear product vision. Bigger teams often have to balance legacy decisions, coordination, and internal alignment. That makes this a good moment for smaller teams to rethink workflow.

@MarcSettle Fair question. We’re not trying to out-cinema Blackmagic or out-feature Final Cut Camera. MoviePro’s focus is different: reliability, predictability, and intent-based workflows — especially when the recording has to work.

We have moved to Freemium model for MoviePro 9.0+ with grandfathering (that is, users who purchased the app before will keep receiving new updates for free). If you have downloaded the app before and are facing any issues, please let us know.

@purplelakes28 You can zoom upto 20x with auto lens choice, and I guess quality is decent enough for 10x or so.

MoviePro v8.9 is now available. It supports Apple Log for iPhone 15 pro models with both HEVC and ProRes codecs. ProRes4444 is also included in list of codecs. Also supports recording directly to external USB hard drives (via Files app) on most iOS devices.

@NorthernWhisper This will be added soon, unfortunately my father expired shortly after the release of previous version that contributed to delay in updating app.

Version 8.8 of MoviePro is available in AppStore that fixes the issue of no preview on Apple Watch when used as a remote. Other than that, there are multiple stability fixes and enhancements(such as crashes in editor when opening a video). Lot more in the pipeline coming soon!

@MarcSettle @kevglobal When iPhone was initially launched, the sales hit a wall as not many people had spare $600 to purchase. So it made a deal with AT&T where you got iPhone on contract without upfront payment. That was the game changer!

MoviePro v8.7.2 supports recording ProRes video in 8 bit format. In general, it is possible to choose 8-bit, 10-bit SDR, and 10-bit HDR (Dolby Vision) as a color profile with a codec. So, one can choose HEVC codec and 10 bit SDR format for encoding. Please also update remote app.

@MovieProApp As I said, I don't want the virtual lens. I want direct manual control over which lens I choose. The native cam app has that direct control over lens choice.

MoviePro v8.7 brings Apple Watch support. MoviePro watch remote automatically gets installed on paired Apple Watch. The remote app on Apple Watch currently only supports starting and stopping recording (along with live preview).

@RichardTaylorTV Native camera has no direct control of lens choice! By choosing a lens, you should be able to select its exposure, focus, white balance, frame rate, etc. Native camera does not support that! It simply jumps from one lens to another based on zoom factor (0.5 to 3.0)!

@RichardTaylorTV Native camera does not have manual controls with the virtual lens. MoviePro camera switching (legacy) does allow that but at the cost of delay in switching which is not smooth.

@MovieProApp The native camera can switch between 3 different lenses 0.5x 1x/2x 3x That's easy to confirm because you can place your finger over each lens to see which one is active. I want manual control over which lens I use. I understand virtual zoom. That's not what I want.

@RichardTaylorTV Auto lens is a virtual lens that combines all three lens for smooth optical zooming in real time. It is not a real lens like 1x or 0.5x, the camera switches lenses as per zoom factor. Native camera app uses this virtual lens.

@MovieProApp I've never been talking about Multicam recording, only about switching lenses/cams while recording. The native Apple cam app switches lenses/cams while recording. Not digital zoom presets, I want to switch cams/lenses. What does Auto do? youtube.com/watch?v=JpBs4Q…

@RichardTaylorTV So that’s nothing but the Auto (triple) lens setting in MoviePro with zoom presets of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. The zoom presets would be provided soon. This has nothing to do with multi camera or camera switch while recording feature.

@MovieProApp No, the main use of switching cams is for the 4 lenses while shooting forward. .5x 1x 2x and 3x Those are the lenses I want to be able to switch while filming. Not the front and back cam.

@RichardTaylorTV This is a slightly different requirement, the main use case of switching cams was switching front to back and vice versa. What you are going will be achieved in future version of MoviePro soon in Auto mode (no manual controls). An Auto preset would be provided soon.

@MovieProApp Thank you!. I switch cams/lenses while recording all the time. On my iPhone 14 Pro Max, sometimes 3-4 different cameras. Multicam recording is a cool feature but it does not replace live switching. Switching to three different cameras while recording: youtube.com/watch?v=JpBs4Q…
