Kenya is seeking parliamentary approval for KSh400 million to evacuate citizens from conflict-affected regions, including Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Russia, as geopolitical tensions escalate.
Officials told lawmakers evacuations have begun, with 15 Kenyans already moved from Iran to Turkey. The 2025/26 supplementary budget had allocated KSh290.9 million for diaspora support, reflecting routine needs rather than emergency operations.
