@AJ85561769 I sympathise. In the UK there is one MP per population of 100K. Former Deputy/ Chair of the Privileges and Procedures Committee suggested we need the number we have to do all the jobs required of them. In fact we have duplication of roles and inadequate organisation and support.

@MozScott Trouble is I see candidates standing in other areas who I don’t want back in the states, I can’t vote in those areas and most likely they will get voted in by a few hundred votes! Time for island wide voting and have less politicians, we don’t need 50 odd .

Unimpressed by the electoral candidate list? Beware of voting against the candidate you want to get in with our current block voting system. Using 1 vote alone (known as bullet voting) can be the best tactic unless you find other candidates acceptable and want to keep others out.

@BeanJalapeno Yes. I don’t think States Members will want to backtrack on an international agreement on a matter that is important to the young. Having said that Gabriel Raimondo has expressed some realism on the matter and he’s the youngest candidate standing.

@MozScott Paris agreement. Jersey's own domestic legislation and policy (e.g., the Carbon Neutral Roadmap) creates local political and legal expectations, but these are set by the States of Jersey and can be amended or repealed by future assemblies, subject to political accountability.??

@BeanJalapeno I sympathise there. We currently have treaty commitments that I don’t see being reversed . More activity in insulating properties and replacing gas boilers occupied by people with a low income would kill two birds with one stone?

@MozScott Anyone who supports blowing millions of tax payers money on achieving ‘NetZero’ for a tiny Island which emits practically nothing is not getting my vote. Ask them at the hustings.

@slegallais67 If you had waded through the experiences shared with me by Islanders of public services and Complaints Panel administration you would feel inclined to have someone with her background in the Assembly too. Public spectacle is not the basis the basis of a fair hearing.

@slegallais67 Being in a role for 10 years does not make someone unprofessional and that can still be distinguished from being let unethical or incompetent. Some people can be unconventional but still perform a role well? At least she understands the value of a Public Services Ombudsman.

@slegallais67 In what way did she behave for you to say that? I have behaved unprofessionally by swearing at another States Member but I still am regarded as ethical and competent by many.

@DarkJersey @hope4jersey In fairness, the reverse must be what voters value. Hence the culture I have encountered in the States Assembly. A voter once told me Jersey will have the government it deserves.

@hope4jersey I come from a culture based on merit rather than patronage, one that values reason and evidence over spin. I don’t fit into the States Assembly at all.

But Jersey's Housing Minister, driven by ideology rather than data and empirical experience, thought he knew better, and the rest of the Assembly were craven enough to support him.
