GRATITUDE GIVES JOY When I answered the call to leadership, I did not expect that it would be easy. I have been proven right. I learn every day, and I embrace all the lessons. I am happy to keep learning as I serve those who chose me to work for and with them.

CHEER OTHERS ON I was happy to witness history and be amongst those cheering athletes on yesterday. Ke ne ke ikaperetse jaaka Zebra ka gore Zebra e na le lebelo, e tshwana le basimane ba rona 😊. Well done, Botswana.

TAKE A BOW The world has witnessed history right here in Botswana. Well done once again to everyone that was involved. A packed and fired up stadium, broken records, world standards in every regard. Congratulations to all our athletes and the medalists in particular. Pula!

Batswana, spectators in the stadium and all our superstar athletes. The world is watching and feeling our hospitality and unique warmth of hosting guests. This is Botswana!

The first brick has been laid, now let’s bring the others and restore the hope that Batswana are losing in their current leaders. Honesty, Transparency, Mutual Respect - just some of our bricks. I wish you all a good week mo pusong ya ga UB SRC President Neville Sechele. Pula!

The reconstruction of our Party is on. We’ve learnt from mistakes of the past, and we know better now that we must stand together and demonstrate to the people that we are with and for them. I invite every Party member, every Motswana, to work with us on this reconstruction.

Yet, in the end, when it really mattered, the UB voting community saw the quality in Neville Sechele of GS26. The embarrassment and intimidation of handcuffs and Mmadisefo meant little. You can’t keep a good man down, and you cannot keep a good Party down.

YOU CAN’T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN Dihaka mo ngwaneng. Ba mo pega mmadisefo. Molato wa gagwe go lebega e le gore o apere paka ya BDP. Cry my beloved country. But don’t cry forever for we shall overcome one day.

Thank you to the entire team that stood and put up a good fight, a dignified charge. Thank you to all Party members who assisted in one way or the other. Thank you to all who voted in favor of GS26. All the best to Mr. President Neville Sechele and the new UB SRC.

HOPE, PRIDE, DIGNITY You give us hope, Neville Sechele and team. You made us proud. You remind us of the fruit of collaboration, determination and mutual respect. You have proven that our reconstruction is on the right course.

He was unassuming, unpretentious and you wouldn’t tell him apart from an ordinary village folk if you didn’t know him. A reflection on his life re-ignites my zeal to be a better human being, a better servant. I strive everyday to be better, and I pray that God helps me.

WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR? This past week I joined the Palapye community and BDP members in sending off a pioneer and business giant, Rre Nonofo Tshobote Makwapa. Rre Makwapa’s story is remarkable, he rose from being a poor garden boy to a leader of a business empire.
