@DesireeAmerica4 I hate all taxes as much or more than anyone but The problem is there is no real alternative to paying for things that property taxesso y cover. Local governments and public schools will establish new taxes that cover costs. Higher sales tax, income tax, etc.

The Ohio government is officially panicking over a massive grassroots movement to completely abolish property taxes. ​Governor Mike DeWine just warned that eliminating the tax would devastate local schools and libraries, threatening that the state would have to jack up the sales tax to 20% just to cover the gap. ​But Ohio homeowners are fighting back with one simple reality: If you can lose your fully paid-off house for not paying the government, you don't actually own it, you are just renting it. ​The state already collects billions in income and regular sales taxes. Instead of threatening us with 20% sales tax rates, the government needs to figure out how to balance its own budget without holding our homes hostage.

@bradluttrell @Byzness Cincinnati is basically the same. I live in the suburbs and it's extremely safe and low crime. I can make it downtown for dinner, ballgame, etc in 20 minutes. With that said, parts of downtown are a mess.

People talking about the crime in Louisville and St. Louis don’t know what they’re talking about. St. Louis has a small city limits, unlike many cities that have moved to larger county / city governments. So of course St. Louis has more crime per capita. That city absolutely rocks. I’ve been many many times, and love it. Louisville has some crime in the west end but is a great place to raise a family. Killer restaurants, great parks, tons of outdoor activity options, low cost of living.

One of the CPD units is calling for shields, there is a fight on the suspension bridge, a CPD Boss broadcast to not engage with anyone on Freedom Way—but he also told them to turn off their BWCs. Now sending Officers from D4 with pepperball guns and 40mm. Curfew back in effect—announcing over PA systems. Smale Park is closed, Fountain Square and Government Square are being cleared…and all NKY Departments are closing bridges to pedestrian traffic. 10 additional Officers requested at Smale Park. We need beanbags and rubber bullets in my opinion…this fuckery would cease forth with. But no…we can’t possibly do that—we’d rather go soft on the less-than-lethal because of the optics. 1) This is sad and I hate it. First and foremost. 2) YOU are the FIRST and LAST line of defense for your child’s safety. Not Airbnb, not a homeowner, not society. We travel with a minimum of two baby gates when we drive to a location. If we fly, we buy some. 3) My 4-year-old is also autistic and we have a pool at our home. I’ve raised FIVE daughters BY MYSELF around a pool and have never had an issue. 5) We stay at Airbnbs around the nation with pools routinely and we NEVER trust simply ‘locking the door.’ We always push a piece of furniture to block any access to a pool. 6) I skipped 4 7) We just stayed at an Airbnb in Gatlinburg with a personal indoor pool right through the kitchen. The door to the pool had two deadbolts. I still pushed the fridge in front of the door. 8) I have a funny feeling these parents partied late into the night.
