Aaaaaannd this is why I’ve slowly been starting to give up on Sonic as a whole. I’ll always be a fan at heart, but I’m not even hyped for the 4th movie anymore. Sega wants to sanitize the franchise and remove any detail that is deemed “offensive”………….because of corporate voices and a small and niche set of voices. Truth be told, in order for Sonic to be better, Sega needs to NOT be afraid of making “controversial” decisions with his and the rest of the cast’s characters. Appealing to everyone appeals to no one and now we have an infantile “adorkable” version that many will see as their definitive Sonic. Even in the games, he’s still yet to fully return to form. With basically 4+ year development cycles for mainline games, that’s going to take FOREVER if it ever happens. Call me when Sonic gets his edge and maturity back 🥱. Also, it’s time to change the voice cast. Make the characters sound like the English equivalent of the Japanese voice actors in terms of energy and tone. And possibly soft-reboot the franchise. Cut off IDW comics and take it to Japan with a standalone manga that doesn’t need to be tied to the game universe. Sonic has always been a shonen character, and I don’t understand why Sega hasn’t taken advantage of that and use it to make Sonic the all-ages brand it once was (it’s purely a kiddy brand now). Give the world some grit, but also sincerity. Take Sonic back to his roots and truly make him the effortlessly cool hero who loves freedom and adventure. 🔵🏃‍♂️💨 ……Also make a Knuckles game where he hunts treasure and dukes it out with his own set of unique antagonists with the Chaotix and Rouge making an appearance as well. 🔴👊🏼⛰️

SEGA LEAK. Just seen this. Sega of America instructs writers and freelancers (even when following source material sent straight from Japan!) to alter Amy's personality to obfuscate her romantic desires. They know this upsets fans and dont have to do it, yet choose to anyways.

Not sure why Metal's showcase story isn't the blueprint for IDW, but is for Blade of Courage. I guess it's one of those things they allow leeway for here. Sonic's "try harder next time" mindset always perfectly fit these cyclical semi-episodic adventures

LOVE the special so far. Just one tiny thing🤏 I'm not a fan of making Sonic's new interest in reforming Metal something he's always had Sonic holding to that irked me a tad last issue. They're linked. Sonic should know Metal better. I prefer their actual cat-and-mouse dynamic

@MrSillySunshine If that happens then SEGA didn't even learn from their success w/ Frontiers and Shadow Gens. The gameplay is fun, sure. But the edge + more nuanced writing play a major hands in keeping the games fresh in fan's mind.

What if one day, hypothetically, Sonic got the Angry Birds treatment and everything was changed was changed to be just his movie version, from his design to his personality to any and all of future appearances in anything and this was what Sonic was now? How would you react?
