I really hope this isn’t what young people take from the events of 2023 because it’s ahistorical. There’s no “Zoning to the South” it has never happened, people from both regions have always contested for Presidency at every point in our history. It’s also backward. The best candidates should always contest for election. This is how we can get good governance. This thing will backfire when people want a certain candidate and they are told “it’s not their turn” it is always the turn of a Nigerian from anywhere in the country.
Lit!@JusttLit

Atiku cannot honour the presidential zoning to the south because of his greed and ambition and you people don’t think that’s foul?

It's official! Political appointees wishing to contest 2027 elections must resign by March 31, 2026. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has directed all political appointees under his administration who intend to contest elective offices in the forthcoming 2027 general elections to resign their appointments on or before March 31, 2026. The directive is pursuant to the provisions of Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026, as well as the timetable issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a circular signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON, which was issued by the Permanent Secretary General Services Office, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, the resignation requirement applies to all categories of presidential political appointees who wish to participate in the forthcoming party primaries or seek nomination for any elective office, which include the following: Honourable Ministers, Honourable Ministers of State, Special Advisers to the President, Senior Special Assistants to the President, Special Assistants the President, Personal Assistants to the President, All Directors-General, and Chief Executive Officers of Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies, Commissions, and Government-owned Companies, as well as all Other Political Appointees of the President. Accordingly, all affected officials are required to submit their formal resignation letters through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation not later than March 31, 2026. President Tinubu emphasised that the measure is necessary to ensure full compliance with electoral laws, uphold transparency in the political process, and promote a level playing field for all aspirants ahead of the elections. He urged all concerned officials to take note of this directive and ensure strict compliance, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and promoting credible electoral processes in Nigeria. It always amazes me how muslims always end up right. First it was how they clean up in the toilet with water, everyone is trying to implement it now. Next is fasting religiously every year, now everyone preaches intermittent fasting and its benefits. Next is how they don't eat pork, they call it unclean. And by fact it can affect the brain because of tapeworms. When we were kids everything they used to do was strange and different from us, now because of education and the Internet we seem to be slowly implementing their way of life.

The world, Europe, and Spain have faced this critical moment before. In 2003, a few irresponsible leaders dragged us into an illegal war in the Middle East that brought nothing but insecurity and pain. Our response then must be our response now: NO to violations of international law. NO to the illusion that we can solve the world’s problems with bombs. NO to repeating the mistakes of the past. NO TO WAR. lamoncloa.gob.es/presidente/int…

Iran had some of the best scientists in the world. They could have developed nuclear weapons very quickly if they decided to. But somehow the Ayatollah believed the West could be reasoned with. He was partially right. He signed the nuclear deal with Obama and complied with it. Then that became a campaign issue in the U.S. Trump got elected and betrayed Iran on that basis and, as a consequence, the Ayatollah was assassinated. Meanwhile, if Iran had followed North Korea’s lead, they’d have already developed nukes and been invulnerable from U.S. threats. Those are the lessons learned. And everyone’s watching.

Life does not come with a manual. No clear roadmap. No promise that the path will be smooth. We plan with confidence. We say, ‘This can never happen to me.’ Yet life humbles certainty. Situations we never imagined arrive unannounced. Sometimes our plans collapse, not as punishment, but as redirection. And sometimes, what we thought would break us becomes the very thing that builds us.

Was just randomly thinking about the things we take for granted. We wake up and plan the day - places we’d go, things we’d do, people we’d call etc. For the majority, we took for granted that we’d need to be able to walk, speak and see to do those things. So much of what we call “planning” quietly assumes a whole architecture of functioning that we rarely acknowledge. The ability to walk to the kitchen. To see the morning light. To form words and be understood. To remember where we put our phone. To dial someone we love. None of that feels extraordinary until it’s interrupted. What’s striking is that most of our ambitions, even the big ones, are built on very small biological miracles. Muscles firing. Nerves transmitting. Lungs expanding. Eyes focusing. A brain translating intention into movement without us consciously directing any of it. We don’t usually wake up grateful for our spinal cord. Or our vocal cords. Or the way our optic nerve carries light into meaning. We just assume access. And that assumption shapes how we move through the world. It creates an illusion of control. “I’ll go here.” “I’ll do that.” “I’ll call them.” As if the machinery underneath is guaranteed. There’s something humbling about remembering that it isn’t, and that life itself is fickle.

Nigeria is currently in a state where true role models are marginalized due to a lack of visible affluence or public recognition, while individuals involved in criminal activities are celebrated on magazine covers and across social media for their illicit wealth. ‘This is why we are where we are.’ - Buhari.
