Ogun Moves Towards 24-Hour Power Supply, Begins Electricity Consumption Audit
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced plans to carry out a comprehensive electricity consumption audit as part of efforts to improve power distribution efficiency and achieve stable 24-hour electricity supply across the state.
The governor disclosed this during an inspection visit to the 4-megawatt gas-fired Independent Power Plant in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where he explained that the audit would help government monitor electricity distribution, curb leakages, and tackle energy theft.
Abiodun described power as the foundation of industrialisation and economic development, noting that the Ogun State Light-Up Project is aimed at making the state energy self-sufficient while ensuring no community is underserved. He added that both the Oke-Mosan 4-megawatt plant and the 34-megawatt Onijanganjangan power project were designed for future expansion.
The governor also revealed that the newly established Ogun State Electricity Regulatory Commission would oversee electricity generation, transmission, and distribution in the state, stressing that the administration’s goal is to position Ogun as the preferred investment destination with reliable and affordable 24-hour power supply.

Bayo Adelabu Reiterates Deep Respect for Olubadan Ladoja, Apologises Over Misunderstood Remarks
Former Minister of Power and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has tendered a profuse apology to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, and the entire people of Ibadanland over the misunderstanding generated by comments he made during a recent political meeting.
Adelabu, in a statement issued on Sunday, clarified that his remarks were never intended as a swipe at the revered monarch, following reports alleging that he accused the Olubadan of taking sides with Senator Sarafadeen Alli ahead of the forthcoming Oyo State governorship election.
The former governorship candidate described the reports as a gross misrepresentation of his comments, stressing that he holds the Olubadan in the highest esteem and would never deliberately utter words capable of diminishing the dignity of the throne or disrespecting the person of Oba Ladoja.
“I wish to sincerely and unreservedly apologise to Kabiyesi, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, and the good people of Ibadanland for the misunderstanding and unintended controversy that arose from my statement at the political meeting,” Adelabu said.
“My respect and regard for Kabiyesi remain profound and unwavering. The Olubadan stool is a highly revered institution, and Oba Ladoja, as a father to all, deserves nothing but honour and utmost reverence from every son and daughter of Ibadanland.”
Adelabu noted that at no point did he insinuate that the monarch had endorsed or taken sides with any aspirant within the APC, adding that his comments were taken out of context and regrettably interpreted in a manner capable of creating unnecessary tension.
He acknowledged the sensitivity of matters concerning the traditional institution, particularly in Ibadanland where the monarchy remains a symbol of unity, heritage and collective pride.
“As a proud son of Ibadan, I fully understand the sacredness of the Olubadan throne. I would never intentionally drag Kabiyesi into partisan politics or make remarks that could suggest otherwise. If my words were misconstrued or caused discomfort in any way, I deeply regret it and humbly seek forgiveness,” he added.
The APC stalwart also appealed to his supporters and members of the public to disregard interpretations suggesting a rift between him and the Olubadan, emphasising that his commitment to preserving the peace, unity and dignity of Ibadanland remains paramount.
Adelabu further called for restraint among political stakeholders, urging all aspirants and their supporters to conduct their political engagements with decorum and avoid actions capable of heating up the polity ahead of the governorship race.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and his belief that the party’s eventual candidate would emerge through a transparent and credible process, free from rancour and unnecessary controversy.

PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
Re: Unacceptable Politicization and Disrespect Toward the Office of the Olubadan of Ibadanland
It is both disturbing and unacceptable that certain politicians and individuals have continued to recklessly drag the revered stool of the Olubadan of Ibadanland into partisan political narratives.
Let it be stated clearly and unequivocally: the Olubadan is not, and will never be, an instrument in the hands of any political actor. The institution of the Olubadan stands as a sacred symbol of authority, heritage, and unity — not just for Ibadanland, but for the entire Yoruba nation and Nigeria at large. Any attempt to ridicule, misrepresent, or politicize this institution is a direct affront to our history, our culture, and our collective dignity.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland owes allegiance to no politician, no party, and no vested interest. He is the father of all, and his office exists far above the transient ambitions of political actors. Those who fail to understand this fundamental truth must either be educated or held accountable for their actions.
In light of the disturbing video currently in circulation, I call on Mr. Adebayo Adelabu to, without delay, publicly clarify his statements. Anything short of a clear and unreserved apology will be seen as a willful act of disrespect to the throne and the people of Ibadanland. Furthermore, it is expected that he takes immediate and appropriate steps to make amends at the Palace of the Olubadan.
Let this serve as a final warning: the institution of the Olubadan is not to be trifled with. It must be respected, protected, and upheld at all times. Those who choose to disregard this will be met with firm and collective resistance from the sons and daughters of Ibadanland.
Signed,
Oloye Olajuwon Enitan Subair-Adelokun
Anlugbua, Mogaji Ile Nla

Jahmal of Port Harcourt 🦍@Big_Sinudo
Hope Uzordimma, the governor of Imo State, has received the APC nomination form for the 2027 Imo West Senate seat. The twist is that Hope Uzordimma's term as governor ends on January 14, 2028. However, in June 2027, the next Senate will take office. This implies that the governor will step down and forfeit his final six months in office in order to serve in the Senate..
