If the Hawks end up with one of the top 2 picks remember this game.

@AlCimaglia After last night & Vlasic more worried about a PP then going after Sheary…I’m fine with trading him and Nazar….he doesn’t play physical, and doesn’t have the stick or body positioning of Keith.

@MrButtermaker The 2 trade chips the Hawks have who are young , and could have upside + they have contract certainty are Vlasic and Nazar. Not sure Crevier will be a Vlasic replacement but I see ur point. What KD has to ask himself is if Vlasic is a true top pairing player.

A team can get tired chasing the puck. Last night the Hawks were flying the first few shifts and then the air was out of the balloon. Tonight the entire first period was okay and now getting steam rolled again. For a team full of young players, besides not being on the same page which could be overlooked, they don't have sustained energy.

@AlCimaglia So KD gave up Hagel for two bottom 6 forwards…. Chrysler plant here we come….KD desperately needs a President of Hockey Ops above him.

@AlCimaglia Instead of burying a 19 year old Russian, how’s about we turn the spotlight on Nazar?.. he’s had a good 15 games and WC… since then, nothing.

Did the Hawks analytics have them ahead in scoring chances tonight? What does this mean.... "We were close to having a lot of scoring chances." It's probably going to be a long 23 games Jeff, you might want to try saying less.
Ben Pope@BenPopeCST

Jeff Blashill: "We need more depth scoring, for sure. We were close to having a lot of chances, and we just didn't handle the puck great. We could've had probably three or four 3-on-1s, and we just mishandled them."

@AlCimaglia Amazing no one on the Hawk beat writing about Hagel at Olympics…are they all afraid of KD?

Celebrini played great, and anyone saying Hagel shouldn't be on the roster, well they are watching a different sport than me.

@ChrisBlock @AlCimaglia I remember either Blashill Or KD saying before the season that they wanted the rookies to be progressing , not trying to survive the NHL…I see all of them just trying survive.

@AlCimaglia Look at the whole roster, are any of the rookies progressing or are they all barely treading water?… Bowman got labeled for rushing rookies… which rookie hasn’t been rushed by KD?

I never questioned the Levshunov selection. If he was the guy on the Hawks board okay, plus he was a big Dman, so I get the pick. BUT, these are fundamentals that Blashill highlighted. Maybe another year at MSU would have helped get him better oriented with everything?? What was worked on in the 52 games with the ice Hogs LY?? Let's get some coaches in here that are able to develop young Dmen, as it stands now there is need for improvement for all of them...
Scott Powers@ByScottPowers

Jeff Blashill said the Blackhawks want Artyom Levshunov to focus on three areas: 1. Puck play (absorbing contact, making right play) 2. Defensive fundamentals (footwork, body position) 3. Shooting technique

@ChrisBlock @AlCimaglia I was more thinking, high 1st round pick with so much raw talent that they made him learn at NHL with little or no AHL time…

@AlCimaglia @MrButtermaker Was that the question, Al? Hjalmarsson was a great development, but not a player with the raw talent to build around at the level of Levshunov. Hammer was a complimentary dman on a great team. Today's Hawks need a couple of those too.

The Levshunov sucks tweets are happening more frequently. @ChrisBlock and I brought up the following on our New Year's day podcast....Anders Sorenson was handed a very important position of working with the defense which includes young guys w/o much experience. Not sure how he earned that spot, it's different than being a developmental/skills coach. It appears a new coach for the defense could be the needed change.

@AlCimaglia Jesus does this team need a physical defensemen in the top 4…a Josh Manson type…. As well as either Dave or Trent Yawney to run the d. Yawney is doing it again in Detroit. What a track record.

Dylan Strome has 89 goals and 158 assists in 285 games since the Blackhawks let him walk at age 25. (Yeah, yeah, I know, I know.)

@AlCimaglia In 1987 & 1991 ..Yzerman was a top scorer in the league on a shitty team and didn’t play a 200’ game. Bedard has started to play a better overall game, but it’s only been 30 games of it. It’s not shocking he wasn’t picked. He’s trending in the right direction.

Bedard has shown he is an elite player at his highest level, as in HOF player. Team Canada is a team that because of their overall makeup could win a Gold medal. Right now, they look at Celebrini as a more versatile player that can fill more holes. That's why he is on the team in front of Bedard. That could change in the future but shouldn't be interpreted as a slight.
Ben Pope@BenPopeCST

Connor Bedard is not on Canada’s initial Olympics roster, although he could be added later as an injury replacement. Macklin Celebrini did make it.
