@NoCurmudgeon They don’t want to “feel left behind.” Other kids play travel so their kid should too, or they risk being “further behind.” It’s going to completely gut local leagues sooner rather than later.
But even local leagues are deteriorating as they race to make youth sports like HS.

Someday there will be research on the “keeping up with Joneses” effect in youth sports. Unfortunately there will probably be 50 chapters in this research.
Everyone is worried about being left behind. Everyone is worried about winning “travel” tournaments.

Parents see a 4th grade team running a diamond press and offensive sets and get scared that their kids are behind. I promise you skill will be way more beneficial down the line. I’ve seen this cycle a few times now.
