I need to say it: #YoungVoices is too long. A 3 hour rehearsal then a 2 hour gap until it starts is unnecessary. The children are in the same seats the whole time. I realise I’m also feeling grumpy as I’ve just got home and my alarm goes off in 4.5 hours. 😬😅 @YVconcerts

@englishspecial Yes, there needs to be a whole section on the importance of relationship building. It should also be compulsory to have completed an NPQH to be a headteacher.

Something that will always baffle me in government is that people with absolutely zero experience can be in control of all the schools in the land. If someone like that walked into a headship interview, they'd be laughed out the room.

@OwenHewlett That's not the issue though.. the issue is the fact we need 10x more special school places, not more kids at private school. Losing a few children to private school would not ease the burden on mainstream trying to cope with extreme need with no bespoke facilities or specialists.

@MrCeeAHT If only those families who could afford to pay for their child’s education could be incentivised in some way to ease the burden on the state system… My mistake, they are currently taxed to do just the opposite!

We have a similar situation. Many children who have been refused special schools because their needs are too extreme. Yet we...a mainstream primary... are expected to "just cope."

Speaking to a Head last week, near 25% of the incoming cohort has EHCPs. Not just SEND - that list is bigger still - but EHCP. Either this system is broke, or there has been such a huge rise in special needs and disabilities that there needs to be a full national enquiry

@MrCeeAHT That is shocking and totally unsustainable.
With the average class size of 30 children, how are you supposed to cope with the special needs of a child on all levels from behavioural through to emotional. The teaching profession is under so much stress.
