@Mets @HowieRose Howie, We have never met, however I think I speak for most Met and Ranger fans. You are simply family. We are sad (for us) and happy (for you). God Bless You and your beautiful family. Respectfully, Joey from Da Bronx.

@mikemayer22 Still dont know if an opt out is guaranteed - no one else is going to pay him that much on a longer term deal.

@MrCeeEnn @BadlandsTOJ @Willpa11 They literally got on the Jets last year for doing that with Aaron Glenn....this why these fans don't make sense, it only matters when it's players they like and want

@sadmetsfan2025 @JonHeyman Not necessarily. The Mets beat his highest offer by 15m AAV - if he doesn't think he will get that on the open market and he likes it here, he will opt in or ask for an extension

Matthew “Fairways are overrated” Fitzpatrick
@MrCeeEnn @The7Line It’s only a bargain if they win. If not he’s just another guy who chased the bag though. I’m a Yankee fan, but I’m not a dick / idiot Yankee fan. Let’s talk real about Soto. He only does 1 thing great. Hit. One of the best I’ve ever seen. But everything else is below average.

@FiresideSportsG @The7Line I'm not disagreeing with you in theory, but players like Soto, at his age, don't enter FA often. They had an opportunity and had to take it. I think players not coming has more to do with how Alonso and Diaz went than Soto's contract.

@MrCeeEnn @The7Line Since getting Soto what have the Mets done? Missed the playoffs & haven’t got any significant players to come play for them. I just don’t believe in building a team that way. The Mets just aren’t a destination where players want to come. Even with Soto. It’s head scratching

@FiresideSportsG @The7Line Contracts are only escalating - assuming the work stoppage doesn't curtail that, 55mil for Soto (assuming option is picked up) will be a bargain.

@MrCeeEnn @The7Line 760m for 15 years, Yes Juan Soto was an over pay. I’d also take Soto over Tucker no doubt. He’s a better player. But I rather have Tucker for 4y with a high aav then Soto for 15 with a high aav when it comes to building a baseball team.

Viewership will be down, attendance will be down. The owners will feel it this season. Maybe that's the plan.

The Dodgers killed baseball. This strike/lockout is going to be 94 on steroids. The owners will dig in hard. Be ready for it.

@The7Line And Cohen is still trying to do it. He was right there with Tucker & Yamamoto. He over paid Soto. If these players wanted to the Mets & signed, you wouldn’t be saying the Mets are ruining baseball. The only reason people aren’t saying it is because no one wants the Mets

It should be concerning if the Mets can’t land Kyle Tucker — especially after a leaked $50M figure that nobody else in baseball would touch. There should be no step-back seasons with Juan Soto. Toronto, two outs away from a World Series, is better positioned, as of now, to win.

There's actually never been a rule about what constitutes a swing. Always just umpire discretion. But yes, back then general interpretation was it had to be a "full" swing, now it's generally if the bat passes parallel to the front of the plate. A measurement/challenge system has been tested, but it used 45 degrees, so the bat essentially pointing past 1B or 3B.
