@amasad There is a permanent shortage of excellent engineering talent. It is the fundamental limiting factor in Silicon Valley.

Genuinely curious: Are there actual instances where qualified native born Americans couldn’t get jobs in tech because foreigners took all of them? I’d be surprised if it’s true because at any given point there are hundreds of thousands of unfilled jobs in tech.

People in San Francisco want to know why Union Square is largely vacant. Or why all the Walgreens stores, Whole Foods, Target, or all the mom & pop places are closing? Or why In-N-Out is leaving Oakland. The answer is Prop 47. It essentially legalized theft under $950. There is almost no downside to stealing and people know this. So they steal non-stop. It’s a no brainer. Prop 47 also allowed for violent felons to be released early from jail with no plan or support. What do you think many have done upon release? Retail is a low margin business and cannot survive the losses, plain and simple. Poor neighborhoods are affected most. Stores serving the community leave and food deserts emerge. Prop 47 killed retail in San Francisco, Oakland, and will kill it statewide if we don’t repeal it.
