@marcportermagee What research does show is that the quality of the school does not have as significant an influence when compared to other factors outwith the school's control such as pupils' socio-economic status.

As far as I can’t tell there is very little research that answers a question a lot of parents have: Does sending your child to a demanding school with genuinely high intellectual standards increase the odds they will be measurably better educated in the substantive sense?

Interesting FOI recently released from the SG regarding the NSA programme. £29,213,980.06 currently spent on the programme which will continue to run, and presumably cost more, until 2027. gov.scot/publications/f…

Very sad to hear that Tom Stoppard has died. I thought he definitely had another play to write. The last pages from his last play, Leopoldstadt, still hit hard.

@Bonn1eGreer My favourite is "Arcadia" but I also love RGAD. The final lines of " Leopoldstadt" still hit like a freight train.

@captainrosa_ The distributions came from the original qualitative research phase and I carried it on through to the quantitative phase. This wasn't directly related to length of service which dictated the original categories.

@MrCollins2019 What was the reasoning behind not breaking data down into equal age distributions? Seems to be: <1 2 2 3 4 15-40+

As part of my research, I needed to find out about secondary teachers' length of service in Scottish secondaries. The current picture may have some very important findings for workforce planning...
