First #MathQuest of the 4th/5th grade year was a massive success. 4G tackled the Place Value Pond showing off their skills with +/-, comparing, & rounding. 5G had a tough task of navigating the Fraction Forest. Equivalent fractions, +/-, and comparing! #teacher #Mathematics

#5thgraders loved having The Voice of the Jayhawks, @BHanni come share his new children’s picture book, ‘Game Maker.” We learned about stage fright, the writing process, LeBron or MJ, take selfies, autographs, & if a hot dog is a sandwich. Thx Mrs. Carter for setting it up! 🏀

Friday we celebrated #NationalPickleDay early for a #5thgrader who is quite the pickle connoisseur! Pickle Picking Prizes were given away. We did pickle word searches, learned pickle facts, and collected data on a pickle preference survey! 🥒 #nopickleemoji

We kicked off our 2nd Math Quest yesterday entering the Decimal Dungeon! 3 levels, 2 Mini-Bosses, and one mean Decimal Dragon as a final boss! The prize for competing the quest is a slick Viking Hat for their character. Levels tied to standards. @WLRiverhawks @usd497

Per a student suggestion we added an additional Hero Quest! 5 more challenging problems after the quest to earn a companion. Kids love Quest Day! Funny how you can change Test to Quest and engagement increases. 😉

#5thgraders had a NON sandwich party last Friday. 🌭 Persuasive opinion papers convinced Mrs. Roberson a hot dog is not a sandwich (more like a taco, am I right? 🌮) So she responded with a hot dog and chips party! Next up: Is cereal soup? 🤔 #AllStudentsOneTeam
