What is the true measure of a career? Is it the work you produce, or the people you shape? For Peter Kollman, it was both.

AI/ML in drug discovery holds immense promise, but what if its foundation – training data – is shakier than we think?

Think AI can solve everything in science? Not so fast... The hype around AI/ML is undeniable, especially in fields like drug discovery. But is it the silver bullet some claim?

It is very sad to learn that Martin Karplus passed away on Dec 28 at age 94. He was a scholar and pioneering chemical physicist with great contributions in many areas including molecular dynamics. We interacted many times starting from my graduate time at Harvard. His legacy is reinforced by the large number of coworkers who have also done much to advance computational science.

@greg_price11 @MZHemingway Hey McConnell, were your priorities to waste taxpayer money on all kinds of crony pork?
Yeah, I guess you did get all your priorities passed.

@KimStrassel @WSJ Trump gets credit for some positive accomplishments.
But in the bigger view, he's the greatest gift ever bestowed on the Democrats by the Republicans.

@ScottAdamsSays Is the argument here that we could burn more fossil fuels to mitigate the consequences of having burned too many fossil fuels?

Irrefutable principle 2: Factor in fossil fuels’ “climate mastery benefits” One huge benefit we get from fossil fuels is the ability to *master* climate danger—e.g., fossil fueled cooling, heating, irrigation—which can potentially neutralize FFs’ negative climate impacts.

This thread could save the world. That is not an exaggeration.

@Bermuda2021 @MartyMakary The general public didn't question masking, even though there isn't a single publication on the face of the Earth that shows with vs a control study that it has any value.
The general public are sheep. And politicians are scientific ignoramuses.
English

@MartyMakary Why 8 weeks and not 6 months? I can't believe how the general public didn't question the dosing interval. While waiting for Novavax, I got one dose of Pfizer in September and am debating on a 2nd dose.
English

After a year of urging the CDC to increase the interval btw the first 2 mRNA doses (to lower complications & increase durability), the CDC finally did it--changed their rec, acknowledging the longer spacing "may reduce the risk for severe side effects" 1/4 thehill.com/homenews/admin…
