Day 30 of 30!: finally crossing the finish-line. No more daily updates, but will continue my habit of reading. Today, I read about how depressingly little we know about schizophrenia. I highly recommend Ron Powers's book. It's important and I challenge anyone to read it with me.

Day 29 of my 30 day reading challenge: going with nonfiction for my next book. After finishing the prologue and the first chapter, I can already tell that this is going to be an important read.

Day 28 of my 30 day challenge: finished Moby-Dick. On to my next book.

Day 27 of my 30 day reading challenge: the showdown with the white whale begins. Finishing the novel tomorrow.

Day 26 of my 30 day reading challenge: turns out I'm farther along than I thought. I accidentally posted day 21 two days in a row.

Day 24 of my 30 day reading challenge: Less than a week to go. Thinking about starting another 30 days after this.

Day 22 of my 30 day reading challenge: Trying to maintain my reading schedule at the start of the school year has been a little tougher than expected. Still on track to complete the challenge though.

Day 21 of my 30 day reading challenge: just passed the 100 chapter mark. It's been awhile since I've seen that many in one novel. To be fair, many of them are on the shorter side.

Day 21 of my 30 day challenge: almost done with Moby-Dick. On deck, I've got a book to go along with suicide prevention month. A bit different from what I normally read, but I'm excited to get started.

Day 19 of my 30 day reading challenge: "There is no folly of the beasts of the earth which is not infinitely outdone by the madness of men."

Turns out the coffee chain's name has a bit to do with the fact that one of the founders was an English teacher. Everything I've googled suggests that there isn't too much meaning behind the reference; it's just a strong sounding name.

Day 18 of my 30 day reading challenge: Starbuck made a minor reference to coffee. Will I discover the origin of one of America's most commonly encountered literary references by the end of the novel?

Day 17 of my 30 day reading challenge: didn't get to finish my reading until late today. Still managed to fit it in. Enjoying Moby Dick still, but I'm starting to think about what I might want to read next.

Day 16 of my 30 day reading challenge: after a long day of setting up my classroom, it was tough to get motivated to read. It turned out to be just the relaxation I needed.

Day 15 of 30: "Remain warm among ice. Do thou, too, live in this world without being of it. Be cool at the equator; keep thy blood fluid at the Pole. Like the great dome of St. Peter's, and like the great whale, retain, O man! in all seasons a temperature of thine own."

Day 14 of my 30 day reading challenge: Really, Ishmael? This time it was three chapters assessing paintings of whales. I always thought this was a book about Ahab's obsession.
