@JustEatUK really disappointed that my order yesterday had missing items and when reported to you, you decided that no refund could be made. Out of curiosity do the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 apply to you or the restaurant ordered from?

@MrElliotHisMod @MrMcEnaney Agreed. Have been told in the past that there’s no point in questioning anything because the senior team have already decided.

@MrMcEnaney Marked for N5 Modern Studies, you don’t have a discussion, you’re pretty much told to apply the standard the team have agreed and that’s it. There is no discussion. The PA takes you through the practice papers and tells you where the marks were given

BREAKING The SQA says that its investigation into Higher History marking has found no problems with this year's approach, despite markers saying that standards were changed after the exam. heraldscotland.com/news/24705073.…

Had the pleasure of delivering an Equality and Diversity CPD to our probationer and student teachers this afternoon. Always fills me with joy as we reflect on the amount of work undertaken to establish a celebratory culture around the diversity of our school! #teachertwitter

'The obsession with school uniform in this country is weird. Really, really weird. In terms of state education, you could travel from one side of Europe to the other and barely see a school uniform.' heraldscotland.com/opinion/245816…

@AndyNelson1977 In the Scottish context there are clear guidelines about uniform policies and how it can be enforced. It’s a very different picture from the English education system which has been seen to exclude pupils for not following uniform expectations

@MrGBusEd Then it's great your school does. But sadly, uniform seems to be the latest lever deployed by the power hungry behaviourists topunish & force deference, control and fear on the kids they're supposed to be looking after. So either sack off uniform or sack off those staff.

@AndyNelson1977 We’ve successfully implemented a £0 cost to the school day through initiatives such as making school uniform available to all, pupils having access to stationery packs no questions asked, and any materials such as calculators or textbooks being provided by the school

@MrGBusEd Brilliant. Then make a business case to your school to supply every pupil a full set of uniform for each day, if necessary dry cleaning vouchers to keep it top notch, then report back the % uplift in grades/outcomes the following year. I'll wait 👍

@AndyNelson1977 Raising standards in education is something I’m passionate about. What can I say, I’d rather that than football or religion.

@MrGBusEd I get it, this is a hill you're going to die on. Of all the things to be so fundamentalist about..... 🤣🤣🤣 normally it's football, religion or something. But what constituents uniform. That's a new one.

@MrGBusEd It literally isn't. Company issued PPE as required by HSE and frequently COSHH. Its a legally mandated safety requirement, not a company choice of uniform.

@MrGBusEd They're not in uniform though. They're in Hi Vis jackets as they are outside, seemingly on a site visit. That's a H&S requirement for Hi Vis, not uniform 👍

@AndyNelson1977 In sales, marketing, ops are all employees expected to wear a branded ID badge? A policy that is applied uniformly across employees to show identity and connection to the business?

@MrGBusEd Service industry, media/advertising or IT/knowledge sectors then? Because here's the thing. I spent 15+ years in media/advertising/broadcasting/tech and there was no "uniform". Now in emerging clean/green tech sector, international business, again no uniform in the sector.

@MrGBusEd When you say "industry", do you mean industry in it's purest firm, i.e manufacturing/industrial, or "industry" as many in education incorrectly use, actually meaning "business"? There's a reason I ask this as there's a very important distinction.

@Kernowteacher1 @MrMcEnaney I agree it’s changing, but dress trousers and shirt, or chinos and polo, or skirt and blouse. They may not be company issued but they are uniform by definition. Our uniform refuser cohort created their own uniform: north face puffer jackets… it’s a uniform is they all wear it!
