We had a jam-packed day of fun! Students went on a hunt, played some themed math games, read and played in the gym with glow sticks!

We made some spooky owls!

We added water to a sloped landscape of soil to see the effects of erosion.

Andy Goldsworthy’s artwork inspired us to take our art outdoors and use materials found in nature!

After we read the Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, we made growing patterns with a table of values.

Students had fun rounding and ordering numbers.

Students bravely read aloud the fluency passage they practiced from their home reading. They loved getting behind the podium to read to their classmates!

We did an experiment to see how we could filter dirty water and make it cleaner! Soil is important! Check out the video on Google Classroom to do it at home.

We read books and did some activities to recognize Orange Shirt Day.

We roamed the room to find information about soil horizons.

Students did a great job of raising money for cancer research, learning about Terry Fox, and participating in our school-wide run/walk.

Students were working on representing 2- and 3-digit numbers using open number lines.

We read the book Abdul’s Story. We were curious about some of the words in the book. We talked about their meaning and wrote them in sentences.

We explored outside today for our science unit on soil.

We been building our capacity to problem solve and think about math in different ways.

Students did a great job of noticing and naming what good authors do when writing.

We talked about a growth mindset and working as a team today. Students did an excellent job of problem solving and working with others!

We talked about our ‘volcano mouths’ today and searched around the room looking for facts about Mr. Guse!

We got through the heat and had a great first day! Students enjoyed I Spy around the classroom, an M&M icebreaker, and other fun activities!

We did some qualitative research (What’s your favourite bean bag colour?) and some quantitative research (How many bean bags can you toss in a hoola hoop?) and graphed our results!
