I'm not a single parent, but I can confidently say that single parenthood is NO JOKE. I think about this every time I'm home alone with the kids for a prolonged period of time. Whew. Sending more mental strength, resilience and patience to all the single parents out there ✊🏾

Our daughter slept from 11:30pm to 7:30am for the first time. 🎉🎉 This is another Christmas miracle that has managed to make me even happier than when my Bluetooth speaker started to work again🤣 🎉🎉 (My son will NOT wake up and ruin this...I rebuke it 🙏🏾🤞🏾🙏🏾)

Trialed a new way of showing the difference between an element, compound and mixture with an S2 class today. Safe to say they enjoyed using the Lego and agreed it helped improved their understanding!

@PetersenMiss @chatbiology I use it as an intro as its the one homeostatic mechanism they can visualise/remember. But no more detail than retrieval practice from GCSE.

Any AQA A-level Biologists able to help? Is thermoregulation apart of the spec?? Not mentioned in the spec, only 1 out of the 3 textbooks I have have it in but then Exampro has questions on it? HELP! Meant to teach it tomorrow 😔😭@chatbiology

@esther_haydock Hi Esther! This looks similar to a lot of the maths skills needed for ALevel Biology. Might be worth checking for Bio booklets for things to magpie? There are some free ones on TES.

2 weeks today until I teach my first ever class!!!! Aka my own class, not a class I’ve taken over from the host teacher, not getting observed and not as a trainee. And I’ll be doing it on my birthday. I’m very excited.

@Laconic_doc Have they considered post-graduate medicine? Some of my friends did Biochemistry undergraduate with me, then went on to do a shortened medical degree afterwards.

Advice please! A friend has asked what their kid should do, with: A* Biol A Phys A Maths A Chem Passionately want to do medicine, (tho no offers after 4 interviews). (& gutted that a fellow student slipped a grade on their 3 As offer for med by Imperial, but was accepted!)

My gorgeous Aunty Pauline died yesterday morning. We knew it was coming but bloody hell. My two younger cousins were with her at the end. I'm fucking devastated.

Our report with @mtpt_project out today finds the education sector is trapped in a vicious cycle of poor retention and recruitment. Neither increased pay or Labour’s pledge to recruit 6,500 new teachers will be enough to resolve this issue. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
