The martial art helps the spiritual energy. Using and A.I answers when the creators themselves state this is insane.

I used to think this was common knowledge but it has become apparent that Korra fans do not know or deliberately ignore the original Avatar Lore. Ask your gotcha questions to the actual writers who made bending a martial arts.

In the first live action move (yes I know it’s trash) they made that very obvious. They only changed it during the legend of Korra.

@XJTNineEight @DondaOutsold @images_i_hate2 Korra was barely bending. Bending itself was never a martial arts. Benders bend with their own energy it's inherently tied to them. The use of martial arts helped them control and manipulate that energy.

@DondaOutsold @images_i_hate2 You Korra fans never watched The Last Airbender. In book 1, katara barely knew how to water bend and needed scrolls to help her learned. Aang also needed training to learn how to bend the other elements. Meanwhile Korra knew how to bend 3 elements despite no one teaching her.

Yue was supposed to be the next avatar if Aang has not run away and got frozen for 100 years. Because of that she was born without a complete soul so she had to sacrifice herself as a moon spirit to help balance the universe. Korra became the next avatar by random luck.
