If a student is spiraling, don’t match their chaos.
Be the calm.
Sometimes your tone is the intervention.

The more disconnected a student feels, the louder their behavior gets.
Don’t raise your voice. Raise your presence.

AI can correct grammar.
AI can tutor.
But AI can’t:
– Offer a caring adult presence
– Read a child’s body language
– Rebuild trust after conflict
In the AI era, teachers aren't just instructors—they're the connection kids can’t get anywhere else. #BehaviorBreakthroughs ##ConnectionBeforeCorrection

“Stop that!” doesn’t work nearly as well as:
“I can see you’re frustrated. Let’s take a breath and try again.”
Connection doesn’t mean lowering the bar.
It means guiding with compassion and high expectations.

You can’t correct a student you haven’t connected with.
Trust is the foundation—without it, even the best strategy falls flat.
Start with connection. Correction will follow.

Before you give the consequence, ask yourself:
Have I seen this student today? Really seen them?
Connection isn’t soft. It’s powerful.
It’s the step most behavior plans skip—and the one that makes them work. #BehaviorBreakthroughs #ConnectionBeforeCorrection

Before you reach their mind, you have to reach their heart.
Because real learning starts with real connection. #BehaviorBreakthroughs #ConnectionBeforeCorrection

The first lesson isn’t academic—it’s relational.
Know your students first. Learning grows from there.

Every behavior tells a story.
If you don’t listen first, you’ll correct the wrong thing.

Classroom success doesn’t start with rules—it starts with relationships.
Connection lays the groundwork for everything else.

If a meltdown happens, it’s not your fault—it’s a student still learning to regulate in a safe space.

Being blamed for student behavior doesn’t mean you failed. It means the system did.

Ever had a student go from 0 to 100—and they couldn’t even tell you why?
That’s why emotional vocabulary isn’t just SEL fluff—it’s a foundational skill.
Kids can’t regulate what they can’t name.
If a student only knows “mad” or “sad,” how can they tell you they’re overwhelmed, embarrassed, or disappointed?
Teaching emotional words gives students the power to express instead of explode. It helps them pause, process, and eventually self-regulate. That’s real emotional intelligence in action.
Start small:
•Introduce 2–3 new feeling words a week
•Model them in your own language
•Use visuals, books, and calm corners to reinforce
The goal isn’t perfect behavior—it’s emotional fluency.
And it starts with words.

As educators, we often push ourselves to the limit, always striving to do more, to be more. But here's a gentle reminder from a page out of my own journey: If you made it through today, you did enough. Let that be enough. 🍏📚
Teaching is as rewarding as it is demanding, and it's okay to acknowledge that some days, just making it through is a big win. So, as you wrap up another day shaping minds and touching hearts, take a moment to appreciate your efforts and the small victories along the way.

@ElonMuskAOC Would love one!
Also would love to talk with you about getting a local school district connected with your Tesla Manufacturing company in Bastrop! It would be great for the schools CTE program. The school district is located in Taylor TX

Handling defiance in the classroom without halting the entire lesson is a skill every educator needs. When a student acts out, it’s tempting to drop everything to address the behavior. However, this often gives the disruption more attention than it deserves. Here’s a better approach: Stay composed, keep your directions concise, and manage the situation subtly. Use proximity and nonverbal cues, or quietly give the student a choice, like “You can join the lesson now or take a short break and come back.” Redirect your focus to the class quickly and plan a private follow-up with the student. This method minimizes disruption, keeps the class on track, and deals with the behavior effectively. Remember, you don’t need to pause your entire class to handle one disruption. A balanced strategy allows you to teach and manage simultaneously.

Tip of the Day: Quick Guide to Classroom Calm
In moments of student aggression, staying calm is key. Swiftly intervene with a soft tone, offering a moment for deep breathing or a quiet spot to regroup. These actions not only de-escalate tension but also teach important self-regulation skills. Maintaining a supportive environment helps everyone thrive.

Teach Kids Personal Space with “Space Bubbles”!
Struggling with personal space in your classroom? Try introducing “Space Bubbles” to your students! This simple and effective strategy helps children understand and respect personal boundaries.
Visual Boundaries: Use hula hoops or tape on the floor to visually demonstrate appropriate distances.
Role-Playing: Engage students in role-play scenarios to practice standing in line or working in groups.
Class Motto: Adopt a classroom saying like “Hands and feet to yourself, let’s respect each other’s space.”
Non-verbal Cues: Implement non-verbal signals for reminders, avoiding the need to verbally call out behavior.
Remember, teaching social cues explicitly helps those who might not ‘just know.’
