Modern day shop class! This week the Gr. 7/8 classes @mountsfieldps are putting our knowledge of structures, and manufacturing systems to work to design our own line of cardboard furniture. They look great put how much weight can they hold? We'll find out soon! @TVDSB_STEM

Do you picture stories as you read? In 7/8A we applied our knowledge of setting by visualizing and drawing scenes based on key details. We created these after identifying sensory details and annotating short stories. Great collaboration! @mountsfieldps @TVDSBLiteracy

Everyone loves a good foldable! In 7/8A we've been exploring how different nations interacted in historical context as well as how to study them using our knowledge from geography last term. What amazing work! @mountsfieldps

Diagrams just don't do molecules justice so we figured why not make our own? In 7/8A @mountsfieldps we applied our knowledge of particle theory to create common molecules using @tinkercad. Next we'll be 3D printing our models to use as manipulatives @TVDSB_STEM

In 7/8A @mountsfieldps we've been learning about the effects of mining on our environment and took on the cookie mining challenge! We learned that it isn't so easy to get the resources we need without damaging our cookies even with the right tools! @TVDSB

The Gr. 7/8s @mountsfieldps are hard at work on their investment portfolios! We're using our financial literacy skills to act as an advisor and develop an investment strategy for a fictional client. Next we'll be graphing and pitching our strategy. @TVDSBmath

Ever wonder where words come from? The Gr. 7/8s @mountsfieldps are learning about the history of language and etymology. We used our knowledge of Greek and Latin roots to map out some tricky vocabulary words from our article of the week. @TVDSBLiteracy

Today @mountsfieldps our Gr. 7/8s are dove into the world of global finance🌍 Using real money from different countries, we investigated foreign currencies, applied exchange rates, and converted them to solve problems @TVDSBmath

Today @mountsfieldps our Gr. 7/8s put their cursive writing skills to work to transcribe authentic historical letters written by my great great grandfather in 1932. Such great convserations about forms of script and context clues @TVDSBLiteracy

Now that cursive is officially back the Gr. 7/8s @mountsfieldps have been learning about how script has changed over throughout history and how to develop their style. Check out our historiated initials based on medieval texts! @TVDSBLiteracy

Today the Business Club @mountsfieldps welcomed Mr. Currie, crypto blogger and one of our favorite supply teachers, to give a talk about cryptocurrency. Great discussion and debate!

Today in social studies we welcomed @achimhurrelmann my mentor from @cu_polisci to talk to our class about international trade. We had a wonderful discussion about CETA with lots of great questions the bright young minds at @mountsfieldps!

No walls no problem! Our virtual Gr. 6 classes @mountsfieldps have been using Google Jamboard for a digital Thinking Classroom. These tricky surface area questions were no match for collaboration and creative thinking.

Today the Business Club at @mountsfieldps held it's first official "Dragon's Den" session. So many fantastic pitches from our group of young entrepreneurs!
