@Tartan_GHopper Some West of Scotland Clubs must hate this new league. They’ve got quite a lot of travelling to now do.
English

@BBCSportWales If only they rehearsed their penalties like they rehearse those cringey squad photos 😂

Bosnia and Herzegovina go through after a penalty shootout at Cardiff City Stadium 💔
Where did it go wrong for Wales tonight? 👇

@BBCSportWales Well, Bellamy did say he was going to go ‘all OUT’ 😂 Chin up, lads! You’ve still got England to enjoy in the WC. Most of the squad is English anyway 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴

Not to be for Wales 💔
Craig Bellamy's side's World Cup dream is over following defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina on penalties ❌

@LMcnair92469 @BarryAnderson_ @TheFulshie @EastScotlandFA I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean, Laurie.

@BarryAnderson_ @MrPow3333 @TheFulshie @EastScotlandFA On the plus side, I see the sheep dog trails are coming up soon…. Ever cloud

What a day. Stoneyburn 2-0 down at HT away at league-leaders Hawick, then fight back to win 3-2. Second-half goals from Kieran Sweeney (2) and Sam Clark. Team bus up the road is a bit lively.

@CliveWardauthor Reminds me of an episode on Bad Lads Army when David Johnston @gnuzim got given one by Cpl Murray, after failing an inspection for being stinky on parade 😂

REGIMENTAL BATH
I can honestly say I was never a victim of the dreaded ‘reggie bath.’ I would say that, wouldn’t I? But I must admit that I did witness a few. I think they were quite common back in the days of the old and the bold.
In 1976, if a soldier was labelled a serial grotty bastard, he would be warned by the NCO’s first, but if he didn’t change his ways quickly, a regimental bath was administered. The NCO’s knew it went on, after all, ‘they’d been there, done that’ and so they turned a blind eye.’ This only ever happened in extreme cases, when the unfortunate, unclean recruit, persistently let the platoon down because of his grottiness. He had to be sorted out, or the whole room suffered.
Action taken – Throw said minger into a bath full of freezing cold water, add several containers of scouring powder, Brasso, Brillo pads, urine, aftershave, shaving foam and the grand slam (faeces optional), you name it, it was in there, even a little bleach.
Once he had got used to his new surroundings, he would be scrubbed down using bass brooms and scrubbing brushes.
To be honest, the unfortunate guy on the receiving end did look after himself after his experience. Although I’m sure that having a quiet word with the lad in question would have been better… ‘In future, when you shower, maybe you could stand closer to the water, there’s a good lad.’ Maybe that would have been a preferable way of going about it.
As cruel as it was back then, the system worked, apart from leaving the victim scarred for life of course. Oh, and the person who had to clean the bath afterwards, let’s not forget him!
I met up with said individual a few years later and he’d turned out ok. He still stunk of Brasso and Ajax though, the poor fucker.
Seriously though, it would be classed as ABH, GBH and sexual abuse nowadays, but hey, it was for Queen and country.
I wonder if reggie baths still happen today, I very much doubt it, in this day and age such things would be perceived as BULLYING and strictly against the ‘Values and Standards’ of the British Army. And, well said that man. We don’t want to offend their sensibilities or delicate nature, do we?! The old sweats would probably say that if the fear of a regimental bath kept people clean, then, good on the regimental bath.
BULLIES AND BULSHIT Warning! If easily offended, I really do advise you not to read this book. clivewardauthor.com

⚡️ Today we're installing overhead wires between Haymarket and Saughton in Edinburgh, which will power electric trains to/from Fife in future.

@mekerinoWhite @OfficialWRC Not really. Ogier didn’t compete in 4 rounds. Evan’s should’ve had the wrapped up months ago.

@fifeenv @NetworkRailSCOT @transcotland The world could run on fresh air and people like you would still find something to moan about!
It’s partial electrification, because the money isn’t all there yet.
English

@MrPow3333 @NetworkRailSCOT @transcotland Yawn. If something is worth doing then it is worth doing properly.
Otherwise, when it is done properly later, the cost has risen dramatically. The flyover at Hitchen is a case in point. Not done in the 70s/80s it was done at greater cost in the 2010s with a longer line needed.

📢 We're asking passengers who use the railway between Edinburgh and Fife to plan ahead for January 17-25, when essential engineering work will take place.
It's all part of our plan to electrify Fife's railway to improve your journeys. ⚡
