My maternal grandfather bought shares in KBL at its IPO in 1954 and from long as I can remember as a little boy, they used to send him invitations to the AGMs in a colorful glossy magazine with brilliant photos and graphics of financial reports of the beer company over the financial year with an option for him to vote by mail…. Many many many decades ago. In my recent conversations with his 86 year old daughter ( my mother) I learnt that he was a cook/chef for a Mzungu family first in Nairobi and then in Mombasa before retiring to run a sugarcane business. How did he know to invest in Kenya Breweries Share that far back😳 Lessons from my Grandfather William

A Chinese schoolboy 3D printed a robot with eyes. Connected it to Claude Code. Equipment cost $17. The computer science teacher gave him an A for the presentation and moved on. Nobody looked at what was on the tablet screen next to it - pause at 0.11 seconds. And there was ClaudeBot, control panel, controls, views, terminal. The robot was watching the class and memorizing every lesson - schedule, assignments, deadlines. The eyes changed depending on how many assignments hadn't been submitted. He didn't build an app for school to get a grade. He built it so he'd never have to think about school again. While classmates were copying homework from each other -his system already knew what to submit, when to submit it and how to format it. Other schools heard about the robot. Then more. Then people he didn't know started writing to him. Four months after the teacher gave him an A and forgot about it - he sold the app for $230,000 He wasn't even eighteen yet The principal still thinks it was a school project.

There is a quiet crisis happening among Nairobi's most powerful men. Not in boardrooms. Not in court. Not in Parliament. But in a small, dimly lit rooms in Westlands and Kilimani that smell of eucalyptus oil and bad decisions. Let me explain. Nairobi has a new business that has multiplied like a pyramid scheme nobody reported. Massage parlors. They are everywhere now. Every building in Westlands. Every estate in Kilimani. Professional signage. Clean reception. A receptionist who smiles like she went to a hospitality college in Karen. These places look legitimate because they are designed to look legitimate. The men walking in are not small men. These are men with corner offices. Men whose names appear in board appointments. Men who drive cars that require a specific parking bay. Men whose wives trust them completely because these men do not look like men who do stupid things. They walk in for a "massage." What they do not know is that they walked into a studio. You walk in and the receptionist smiles and asks if you have been here before. You say no. She says don't worry and hands you a menu. Not a food menu. A people menu. Photographs. Names. Specializations listed underneath like a LinkedIn profile designed by the devil himself. You are now a man standing in a reception in Westlands in your expensive suit and your wedding ring choosing a human being like you are selecting a meal at Cj’s restaurant or a restaurant you have never been to and are trying to make a good decision. You pick. She arrives. She is warm. Very Professional. She shakes your hand like she went to a finishing school in Runda. She leads you to the room. The room has been prepared carefully. The lighting is specific. The angles are specific. There is a small device that you would not notice even if you were looking for it because you are not looking for it. You came for ‘a massage’. The masseuse knows exactly what she is doing. Her job is not the massage. Her job is the footage. She is professional, warm, unhurried. She creates a situation. She reads the room. She asks about your back. Your shoulders. Whether you carry a lot of tension. You do. You carry a lot of tension. You tell her this. She nods like she understands completely. She understands completely. The massage begins professionally. Clinically even. You start to think you misjudged this place entirely. Then at a very specific moment, in a very specific tone, she leans close and asks one question. Just one. In a voice your wife has never used on a Tuesday afternoon. “Do you want a happy ending” You don't answer immediately. But your silence already answered for you. The camera got that too. 😐 She understands that a man who has been working fourteen hour days and is carrying the weight of a company and a mortgage and school fees and a wife who is always tired and children who need things, that man has a very specific vulnerability. She finds it in approximately twenty minutes. “Do you want a happy ending” she again politely asks whilst holding your Homo erectus. What happens next is between the man and his poor decisions. But it is also now between the man and a camera he never saw. The footage is reviewed. The man is identified. His LinkedIn is not hard to find. His company website has a professional photo. His wife's Instagram is public. His children's school is tagged in her last post. Then comes the message. Not a call. A WhatsApp message. Always a message. On a number he does not recognize. At a time when his wife is nearby. The message has a short video clip attached. Just enough. Then a figure. With a bitcoin wallet address that cannot be traced back to anyone. Marriages dissolved, Resignations from boards with vague statements about pursuing other interests. The eucalyptus oil is free. Everything else will cost you everything. 😐

If you're coming from Ruaka to Westlands, avoid the Gacharage - Gachie rd. They've blocked the road with rocks in some sort of protest. Didn't stick around to find out what they're protesting. @Ma3Route
