@MeleeNah1 Read the thread 🧵, there're outlines on security, education, healthcare and the economy which is his strong suit. Massive private sector participation of which electricity is the foundation of the economic plan. x.com/i/status/20597…
Atiku Abubakar@atiku

I wish to express my profound appreciation for the privilege, which you have bestowed on me, of leading our great party, the African Democratic Congress, into the next elections as its Presidential Candidate. I am truly humbled and excited by this singular honour. We demonstrated that while democracy is being strangled and squashed by the ruling party and its oppressive and anti-democratic government, democracy is alive and well in the African Democratic Congress. In our party, members are allowed to express their views, to have ambitions and to contest for elective positions in a free, fair and transparent process. Our great party is a coalition built through hard work, immense sacrifices and compromises, guided by our determination to rescue our country’s democracy which is facing its greatest threat since the return to democratic rule in 1999. As I speak, virtually all opposition political parties in the country have leadership crisis engineered by the APC government, the INEC and elements in the judiciary. And opposition figures continue to be harassed and intimidated, including those languishing in detention, such as Mallam Nasir El-Rufai who distinguished himself as a public servant, including as a Minister and two-term Governor of Kaduna State. He has been in detention for three months despite court orders granting him bail. He has been denied the right to celebrate two important religious holidays with his family in addition to being denied the opportunity to be by his mother’s side as she took her last breath. All because he is a leading opposition figure! This kind of cruelty must stop. The government continues to harass, intimidate and coerce opposition politicians to join the APC using the security agencies as well as the agencies which were set up by a previous government to fight corruption. Under this government, once a person joins the APC, the harassment ceases and the charges against them magically disappear. This abuse of power must stop. Great care was taken to ensure that due diligence was done in the process of forming this coalition. Yet the government and the INEC continue to undermine it, even trying to deregister it. Let me warn that any further attempt to interfere in the affairs of the party by the Presidency, INEC and judiciary will be fiercely resisted. Enough is enough. I congratulate my fellow contestants for this ticket to represent our great party in the elections scheduled for early next year. I know that you are driven by your patriotism and commitment to a better Nigeria and improved life for our people. I know that, like me, you are deeply concerned about the rapid descent of our country into economic disaster, catastrophic insecurity, extreme nepotism, political intolerance and the drive towards a one-party state by the current government and its party. I thank you for your healthy participation in this democratic process. I must state at this juncture that this is not the time to celebrate. No one was defeated because we are one party and we all need to recognise the fierce urgency of the moment. Therefore, we have to unite, as we pledged before this process, to work to pull our country and our people out of the destructive grip of a corrupt, incompetent and polarising APC government. I thank the primary elections Committee for organising peaceful, free, fair and transparent primaries. I thank the various leadership organs of our party, the various stakeholders, and volunteers for their hard work and dedication and all our party members and supporters for their efforts, patience and conduct during the process. With the primaries behind us, the real hard work is about to begin. We have to prepare to campaign hard to win the next general elections in order to begin the difficult process of rescuing our country and its long-suffering people from this government.

@TouchlineX Did it end a draw?! Are penalty shoot outs not part of the game?! I didn't see the trophy being divided between both finalists though, so yeah you lost the final ultimately.

@joel_udeh92001 @peculiarpat1 Falsehood. They're only in those positions to begin with bc of Obi. If Obi didn't leave PDP to run under LP, the LP candidates wouldn't win one single position in the entire SE. That's a fact. Don't get it twisted. And this is just recent history you're distorting. Just 3yrs ago.

Obi has very strong candidates in the senatorial election in Anambra: Senator Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye, and Chief Ebuka Onunkwo. These men have a 60% chance of winning. The greatest mistake of APGA was allowing the NDC to grab Ebuka (Seahorse). Tony is young but a veteran in politics, like his opponent, Stella Odua. What many don't know is that Tony became the Anambra State Chairman of the PDP in 2006 at the age of 24. Of course, Umeh needs no introduction.

PRESS RELEASE Tinubu focused on having his way or destroying Nigeria’s democracy - Atiku Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has warned that President Bola Tinubu is focused on either having his way in the 2027 election or destroying Nigeria’s democracy. Atiku raised the alarm while reacting to the authoritarian action of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nysom Wike in denying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) access to a public event center in Abuja for the affirmation of its presidential candidate. The ADC Presidential flagbearer said in a statement signed by the Atiku Media Office on Saturday that the action of the minister to repress the PDP is reprehensible and a further manifestation of Tinubu’s tactic to frustrate political opposition ahead of the 2027 polls. “The action of Minister Wike to deny the PDP the opportunity from holding an event in line with its constitutional right represents a blatant abuse of the party’s rights and an unacceptable infringement on the freedom of association and peaceful assembly as guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). “Private and public facilities in the Federal Capital Territory or indeed anywhere in the country exist to serve all Nigerians irrespective of their political affiliation. The Minister’s refusal to allow a legitimate political activity to hold in such a venue is not only discriminatory but also a clear demonstration of partisan interference by the Tinubu administration. We have seen a pattern of political interference through public institutions aimed at weakening opposition parties under the current administration. We have also seen, by the case under reference with the PDP, ditto the ADC during its national convention held in April, that the Tinubu government is literally pushing political opposition out of space. “It was under the same leadership of Wike in the FCT that a sponsored faction of the ADC had a public event a few days ago with no one threatening them. “This sets a dangerous precedent that undermines Nigeria’s democracy, the rule of law and the integrity of our elections “This high-handed action is consistent with President Bola Tinubu’s emerging pattern of deploying state institutions and resources to frustrate political opposition and weaken the democratic process in the build-up to the 2027 presidential election. “By weaponizing the FCT administration against opposition parties, the Tinubu administration is revealing its intolerance for political pluralism and its determination to create an uneven playing field that favors only the ruling party and its cohorts,” the statement said. The statement further pointed out that Atiku Abubakar, a firm believer in democratic values and the right of every Nigerian to freely associate and express political choices, views this development as part of a broader strategy to stifle dissent and rig the political environment in favour of the ruling party. According to the statement, Tinubu is a steamroller of impunity who is shamelessly determined to destroy everything our democracy stands for. “The Tinubu government is afraid of free and fair elections and their tactics to suppress the opposition will not succeed. “Nigerians are resolute in their demand for genuine democracy, accountability, and leadership that respects the constitution rather than subverting it.” We call on the Minister of the FCT to immediately stop this unconstitutional action and grant all opposition parties unfettered access to public and private facilities for their legitimate political activities. “We equally urge all democratic stakeholders, civil society organizations, and well-meaning Nigerians to rise against this creeping authoritarianism before it further erodes the foundations of our republic.” Signed: Atiku Media Office Abuja 30 May 2026.
