thinking here on the day of the reckoning when deltarune is completely different from what #anunfortunatebigportionofthisfandom thinks and everyone goes "this ending sucks" and stops talking about the game so only the ones who always knew it was going to be like it stay

@spiiralling @YourHostKaz Except that’s my point. Papyrus already had the most dialogue lines in Undertale. He doesn’t need more characterization in Deltarune. Toby is focusing on new DR characters and less important UT ones. The fans would hyper focus on retreading important UT characters to the ground.

@_ANGELSVESSEL_ This theory seems really common and I’ve never understood why. Undertale has a lot more in common with dark worlds than DR’s light world

In my head, Deltarune is a dark world made using the entirety of Undertale and the depths are its fountain; or something adjacent to that

More crack-theory-esque but maybe sans and papyrus are literally gaster’s deltarune equivalents. Since gaster is not really a single entity by the time of Deltarune’s creation maybe it just got screwed up and represented him as two different characters in Deltarune
