I've noticed that apart from "hitting like a truck" Gaethje's punches inflict so much damage because he is not landing a traditional punch. Most of his uppercuts and jabs land on the "knockers", what you would use to knock on a door, mainly the index & middle fingers. The jabs almost paws down at the strikepoint. The uppercuts have the same strikepoint. This causes all those cuts and beaten up faces when you fight Gaethje. Many will say it's an excuse or that he would break his fingers, etc. It's not an excuse, he's a beast. This is just an observation. He would not neccesarilly break his fingers because with all the training his bones, tendons, etc. are all hardened.

@ernesto21cap I completely agree, landing with the knockers give more superficial damage. Light punches feel strong as well. I watched all Gaethje’s fight in slow motion. He tends to blind fighter in the early rounds. He can’t keep his jab closed.
