@teacher_eyfs @EYTagteam In a lesson I am constantly assessing what they can do and we have next steps for children which change in accordance to what we see. We don't send observations to parents.

@teacher_eyfs @EYTagteam We do a general weekly maths post that says what we have focused on in school and what they could do at home to support this if they wanted. This is the same post for all children.

Who wants to play a fun game... It's called 'useful', 'for ofsted' or 'ridiculous' It comes from a positive place - a colleague and I were talking about the things that Ofsted/DfE have implemented that are actually useful. Feel free to add you own

@Muna_Abdi_Phd We talk and play with our son. Being a EYFS teacher I know how important this is! Lots of back and forth conversation. We follow his interests but also provide new things to do. We set clear boundaries + constantly explain them. But most importantly we fill his life with love!

Starting the process of whittling down my #FavePicturebooks2022 Don’t know how I’ll get it down to 40. Sure there will be late entries too. 1/3

@Miss_Seyfs @MrTs_NQTs Think about the skills they need to access the area or to make something. Being able to join two things together. Being able to cut the tape, use scissors etc...

I’ve been asked to lead some teaching input sessions to our reception class about how to use the junk modelling area, currently they are just sticking things to the wall and ripping them up 😅 but I have no idea what to lead? Any ideas? @MrTs_NQTs #edutwitter #EYFS

@PieCorbett Why would it NOT be addressed earlier on? I can sense the sneaky pointed finger wagging at EYFS and ks1 teachers yet again 😠. Why would we let this slip? This is writing in my Y1 class, fresh fromYR. Nobody has let anything slip.

In many schools, children get to year six and still cannot punctuate with reasonable accuracy. Why do you think this is so? Are children learning that you don’t have to do it because no one really does anything about it? Has anyone effectively addressed this?

@teacher_eyfs Just send home lovely picture books for parents to read and share with them. Don't push phonics until they are ready!

@Mr_Minchin @Mr_Richards_ Play is not a holding activity whilst the adults teach shall groups! Play should be valued so teachers should be immersed in it for a long part of the day!

@EYEearlyEd On your editors article on children playing with food. Where do you stand on play dough? We teach the children how to make it with flour, salt and water and then they use it. Would you also have this taken away from Early years classrooms? Wasting/ playing with food?
