Yesterday, I attended an event. When it was time for Maghrib prayer, I excused myself, performed ablution at a tap in the compound, found a secluded place, faced the Qibla, and prayed. A Christian colleague of mine was shocked at how I had just prayed on the bare floor without a prayer mat. “Don’t you care about soiling your clothes?” It’s funny how clothing was the last thing on my mind.
