So, I listened to The Hissing Of Summer Lawns. Or I should say, I tried to. I made it all the way through maybe 4 tracks. I can hear what some ears might love in it. But it left me mostly cold. The singing was less annoying than I was expecting. The harmonies more. The OTT bass playing on track 1 would have had 23 yr old me stop listening completely. I wondered who produced it? Who OK'd that? She did.

@pieceofmind03 Well said. After a 40 or so year gap, I've rediscovered my love for Rush with a copy of Farewell to Kings which recently fell into my pile of CDs. His playing on Xanadu is spine tingling :-)

Neil Peart’s and Geddy Lee’s musical talent get huge recognition Alex Lifeson’s terrific guitar work in Rush deserves more plaudits. La Villa Strangiato, Limelight, Xanadu, Freewill, Red Barchetta and many others speak for themselves. Thanks Alex, you’re great 💕

@LesPurves I find Grant Green easiest on the ear; a lot of them are too "challenging" for me.

Jazz standout year. 1964 — the expansion. Post-bop hardens, avant edges creep in, Blue Note goes electric (not literally yet), and composition gets weirder, tighter, freer all at once.
