'Blind dating" books was a huge success this morning! Here are some of the mystery books that were immediately claimed by students so that they could keep reading. Special shout out to Schooled by Gordon Korman as being a particularly popular book that was sampled

This morning we are talking about book covers and how they can (for better or for worse) help us to make a judgment about a book. Then students will be sampling books without using the cover to help. Looking forward to some good discussions!

First math activity of the year - collaborating to make 2D and 3D shapes with string! Each group member needed at least one hand on the string.

All #WRDSB schools are CLOSED and transportation is CANCELLED. Extended Day Programs, Child Care Centres in our schools, and Education Centre are closed. All our students will participate in self-directed, asynchronous learning. Staff are virtually available during school hours.

Today our class tried "the Blanket Exercise" which allowed us to take the perspective of indigenous communities and experience loss of land as European settlers arrived.

Today we did a class challenge to kick off social studies... A giant puzzle of the world!

I'm art we are practicing contour drawings and investigating lines and textures.

Investigating whether dissolving salt is a physical change or not, we were able to evaporate water to get back the salt!

Student applied their understand of the states of matter to classify some difficult to place substances.

Today we continued talking about growth mindsets and then did an art activity where we turned a mistake (paint splatter) into something deliberate

Today in math we timed ourselves doing different tasks and recorded or times as decimal numbers. We then worked to put these numbers in order, and to represent them visually
