Very proud to share our new paper demonstrating that transformed follicular lymphoma has increased activity of CD40 signalling due to lower levels of miR-29. Evidence that the B-T cell interactions are important in tFL (Filip et al, Leukemia, 2026, rdcu.be/e4HwW).

I don’t know if you saw the MASSIVE news announced by @ERC_Research today: from now on,if you get a B at step 1 you are eligible to apply at N+3(!!!) years. Say you got a B in STG2026 step 1, you thought you could apply in STG2028, but no: only in STG2029! erc.europa.eu/news-events/ne…

To follow the @AACR "Holy Week" we are sharing our new paper out today @BCD_AACR : “3D chromosome remodeling in B-cell development and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.” Using integrative chromatin architecture, accessibility, and transcriptional analyses, we show that pediatric B-ALL subtypes harbor distinct 3D genomic states that parallel developmental arrest and support subtype-specific oncogenic programs. We further identify ERG as a key regulator in ETV6::RUNX1 B-ALL, with implications for leukemic maintenance and differentiation blockade. Finally, we map 3D changes in healthy human B cell development drawing parallels to specific disease states. aacrjournals.org/bloodcancerdis…

This brilliant paper from Greg Hannon (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17554337/) led to my first paper, in which we studied miR-34a in leukemia. I am very grateful for his great science.

I learned yesterday that Greg Hannon passed away. I only met him a couple of times, but the meeting in Cold Spring Harbor when we talked about ncRNAs and ate lobster, that I will never forget. I truly enjoyed reading his papers, and his sharp intellect. cruk.cam.ac.uk/news/in-memori…

@MrazLab That's up to the selection committee to negotiate and evaluate that. Myself, I would prefer a director who would be more committed to taking care of the institute and leading it than to using IMG as a way to support own research career. That's also the reason I won't be applying.

1/6 This November, the Institute of Molecular Genetics, the leader in vertebrate functional genomics in Czechia, open a call for applications for its Director (starting 1.5. 2027). Whoever would seriously think about it, please, contact me. Thanks for RT. img.cas.cz/en/

We're in this week's Nature! We propose a model of how a cell learns by running an evolutionary algorithm: exploring different gene-regulatory combinations and using feedback responses to stabilize those combinations that reduce stress levels. Full text: nature.com/articles/s4158…

@Vedazije Ten první odstavec je v podstatě správně (ve Sci. Reports se mohou objevit jak velmi průměrné, tak zajímavé práce), ten druhý je úplný nesmysl.

Thrilled to see our 2019 publication (Tikhonova et al) pass 1,000 citations. In this study, we mapped in detail the bone marrow micro-environment at single-cell resolution and showed that the niche is far more heterogeneous than previously appreciated. We hope that this work helped define how we think about the cellular architecture that supports hematopoiesis. #BoneMarrow #Hematopoiesis #SingleCell nature.com/articles/s4158…

People often ask how breakthroughs occur in cancer biology-often the story is more complex - the survival plot for myeloma outcomes is extraordinary - improvements come about in incremental steps - in my lifetime treatment of Myeloma has almost transformed into a curable disease
