Despite his slightly dodgy sounding name, another RE bod has introduced me to this guy and he's even done a video about my latest bit of learning- the Norman use of Sheela-na-gigs in churches Check out Inspector Organ's video! #TikTok vm.tiktok.com/ZNRt5sLbf/

@MrsBdoesRE From Reception. Case studies can be effective at any age in enabling children to understand how religion is lived and experienced in people's everyday lives. #REchatUK

I think our younger children really hook into the learning- they can tell you all about Hany El-Bana or Margalit from the belonging and believing books #REchatUK

@MrsBdoesRE I used to love watching Let’s Celebrate to see examples of lived experiences and the Child’s Eye videos of festivals. They were great for case studies for the youngest pupils. #REchatuk

@ChrisNatre Yay! 100% agree with this. Our KS1 were fascinated when some of the regular visitors we had to worship took them on a virtual tour of their place of worship #REchatUK

@MrsBdoesRE I think real is great although some fictionalised could be useful as a way for our younger children. #rechatuk

@RE_McGEE @JoanneH_RE I think you could be right Nikki. For me, in Primary, I wrestled with not having the "right" case study when working on something for the REC project until we discussed fictionalised case studies with @GillCGeorgiou #REChatUK

@MrsBdoesRE I can't remember who said it but there's research to say fictional ones work just as well. I can use aspects of different people's authentic worldviews to put together exactly what I am wanting to emphasise to students. I still check it with someone within the faith #REchatUK

@Greg_Parekh I think for our very youngest learners a persona doll representing one Christian helps them begin to form the idea that there are more opinions around them. This Christian (Tessa in our EYFS) thinks... but Bob, our Methodist minister thinks... for example #REchatUK

@MrsBdoesRE A mix of both works. Real case studies bring authenticity and help students engage with lived experience, while fictionalised examples can protect anonymity, simplify complexity, or foreground particular themes. The key is being transparent about which is being used #rechatuk

We very much use fictionalised case studies through our persona dolls in EYFS, some fictionalised and some real in KS1- must give @BooksAtPress a shout out here for the excellent belonging and believing resources and moving more to the real case studies across KS2 #REchatUK

@MrsBdoesRE I think having a living library of speakers you can utilise (contact your SACRE or @RE_Hubs) shows the worldview you are studying does exist in the form of a real person! #REchatUK

@Greg_Parekh We are a stone's throw away from Epworth- home of the Wesley's so we use their story and our local methodist minister to introduce some diversity in Christianity in KS1 #REchatUK

@MrsBdoesRE It can help students connect big ideas to places, communities and issues they recognise. In Cornwall, this could mean exploring faith through mining heritage, Methodism, pilgrimage sites, food poverty, tourism or environmental issues affecting coastal communities. 1/2 #rechatuk

We use William Wilberforce (who is from just across the Humber from us) in Y5/6. It really helped us not only focus on his worldview but we used it (or tried to) with a FORB lens looking at freedom. Very few of ours knew who he was! #REchatUK
