Elsewhere in the @hartsholmeacad garden we made a start preparing the flower bed for the potatoes to be planted 🥔 It’s been a busy day and certainly helped develop our fine motor control, they were tricky to pull out! Next step … planting the potatoes #eyfs #outdoorlearning

The children made the most beautiful fairy garden in @hartsholmeacad garden today. They used lots of different things from the garden and classroom and decided to make it around the apple tree 🍄 They’re already talking about whether they’ll see the fairy tomorrow! #eytalking

I love it when children choose to write in provision! Absolutely no context, it had not been a previous activity, was not directed … it was all from choice and COMPLETELY independent! WOW 🤩 Two days in a row! #eyfs #writing #eytalking #literacy

When the children use the interactive whiteboard to practise their sentences from your Read write Inc Phonics lesson … without being told! Eeeekkk! We’re getting so good at writing and reading and, most importantly, love doing it! ✍️ #eytalking #phonics #childinitiated #writing

How creative is this? I could hear 5 Little Speckled Frogs (from our Maths lessons) during provision. I saw that a child had found a log, some frog puppets, used the painted floor river (Chinese NY story) and was singing with his friend! Completely #childinitiated 🐸 #eyfs #maths

Displays are so powerful! These two boys were having such a fantastic discussion and recap about this week’s learning. They were using their new vocab, recalling the animals we have learnt about, sounding out the words and reminiscing about the ice experiences outside! #eytalking

Last week we were freezing ice in the school freezer ready for this week’s provision. Little did we know that we’d have such amazing thick ice this week by simply leaving our tuff tray full of water overnight @hartsholmeacad The weather was well timed for provision this week 🥶

This was WOW 🤩 This took this young man ages to put together but once it was perfected, it was wonderful. The language used, resilience, the actual idea to make this & the critical thinking to make it work has blown me away @hartsholmeacad today 🤩 #eyfs #eytalking #earlyyears

This is such an interesting fact!! Every time you read with, read to or hear your child read you are improving and increasing your child’s vocabulary and that’s not to mention LOTS of other skills they will learn and benefit from! @Harts_Reading 📚

Did you know a child that reads for 20 mins a day will read around 1.8 million words in a year? The more our kids read the more vocab they absorb & the easier they will find it to articulate themselves, both now & in the future. Plus it develops critical thinking skills too 😀

Well, you know you’ve inspired some learners when they use your ‘teacher counters’ and their own counters to reenact their own version of your Maths lesson! The ‘teacher chair’ came out a little later when it evolved into a full blown lesson @hartsholmeacad 😊 #eytalking #EYFS

Then, later today I was delivered a menu for the new @hartsholmeacad restaurant. It was a very welcoming menu cover, ‘welcome to the restaurant!’ I love how confident the children are getting with their writing in their play. Perfect!! ✍️ #EYFS #eytalking

Well, what a lovely way to end the term for Reception @hartsholmeacad ❄️ We went for a lovely icy walk this morning and then snuggled up with hot choc, whipped cream and marshmallows with Stick Man. Perfect! #MerryChristmas

What a wonderful day @hartsholmeacad FS had @RandFarmPark 🎄 It’s been an amazing day with lots of tired children on the way home! We saw Santa, watched an Elf workshop show, decorated gingerbread with Mrs Claus, saw REAL reindeers AND went on a tractor ride! We got a toy too!🎅🏼
