@MrsReadVEM The second author was one of my grad school professors at TCNJ! She was in the process of publishing the book when I had her. Maybe I can get her to do an author visit when all this craziness is over

60% of all English words have Greek and Latin roots in them. In order to figure out unknown words we encounter while reading, it helps to learn the roots!

Comment from one of my 7th graders after I had them stop and discuss what we were reading: "Wow. It's amazing how much information you can get about a story in just one paragraph." Yup. And this is why we pay attention and think while we read. 😊

I cannot wait to do my read aloud in the library tomorrow! I absolutely love these books 💗 Plus there's an addition of our drama teacher reading with me this year. Don't miss the "show"!

@DrKennethKunz I just started it, too! I was thinking about reading the first chapter to the upper school at my read aloud on Friday.

Student: Wow! We’ve filled up four rows of already? Me: Yes! Student:I don’t think I’ve ever read 72 picture books in my whole life, and we have read that many? Hmmm...I think I actually like pic books. Me:🥰 And this is why I’ll continue to read pic books to my middle schoolers.

I love watching my students as they read, especially when they hit the unexpected twist in the story. Their eyes widen, mouths drop, and occasionally gasp. They look around to see if the other students are at the same part. Then they can't wait to talk about it after 💗

One of my students was so excited about her writing about reading on Friday that she wanted to take it home to add on to it with all of her ideas about the story. She was so happy and proud to show me after the long weekend! I told her I would post it on Twitter to celebrate 🎉

Reading teacher problems: listening to a random alphabet animal song with my daughter and it says C is for cat and chicken and cow.....um....chicken? Nope. That's a digraph. I can't even enjoy a children's song 😂🤦‍♀️
