Please support Wexford GP Dr Billy Ralph, who now faces losing his licence to practise for speaking out against the COVID lockdowns. Next Tuesday–Thursday (24–26 March), the Irish Medical Council’s legal team will present its case against him. The core allegation? That his social media commentary was “inappropriate” and/or “undermined public health guidelines.” Yet many of his statements — once condemned — now appear prescient: • “The pandemic is over, NPHET lack the expertise to analyse current data…” (Oct 2020) • “NPHET are a liability.” (Oct 2020) • “No change in deaths, so lockdown a complete waste of people’s time.” (Nov 2020) • “There is no public health emergency… There is a dire need for Irish people to wake up and take back their freedom.” (July 2021) • “Health services would be overwhelmed if everyone wasn’t vaccinated – not true. Vaccinate the vulnerable; everyone else gets a cold.” (Aug 2021) This case raises a fundamental question: should doctors be punished for dissenting views — even when time proves them right?

I left school in 1989 - a rather long time ago🙃. I also went to a catholic school, a Dominican Convent.
Not only did the nuns educate us so we could sit our Inter cert, they also, shock horror, assumed we would sit our Leaving cert.
On top of that, they employed a carrier guidance counselor, even more shock horror, who arranged aptitude tests and helped us fill in our CAO forms (yes, we had them back in the 80s too 😂🤣)!!
They encouraged us to follow our dreams, whatever they may have been.
Were they perfect? No
We we? Not a chance.
