Claim, evidence, and reasoning aided 4th graders at Sheridan School in a “Missing Candy Mystery” simulation. Their detective skills and convincing argumentative writing helped them identify the culprit and recover the goods. @District_87 #itsgreattobeind87

5th grade classrooms at Sheridan were lit up this week for Glow Day! 💡 Students practiced math by playing glow Jenga & tic tac toe. They also experimented with the effect of temperature on glow sticks. D87 educators are great at using fun techniques to keep students engaged!

Biking the perimeter of Mackinac Island was an absolute blast. No cars are allowed on the island, so almost everyone travels by foot, bike, or horse. Pic by @MrsFoley123

Remote Learning Engagement: Make a one-page template for this "Have You Ever . . . ?" brain break and duplicate. Change the questions, images, and physical actions. Once you have 10, copy that set so you only need to alter the questions and pics for next time. #remoteteaching

Students in the Australian outback live hours from the nearest school building. "School of the Air" has provided remote learning since 1951. In those days it was one or two-way radio communication for instruction. 📷Queensland State Archives | Public Domain | WikiCommons | 1960

Remote Learning Engagement: What does it mean to pay attention? Teach students the body language needed to be attentive and active participants in their learning. SLANT! These actions communicate interest and show respect to speakers. @District_87 #remoteteaching #remotelearning

Remote Learning Tech Tips: Trying to get the teacher's attention during a lesson can feel awkward. But with @zoom_us's nonverbal feedback icons, student can quietly signal a need with the "Raise Hand" option. Use "Yes" and "No" for quick whole-class responses. #remoteteaching
