@Keir_Starmer Is it April Fool’s day? How on earth can you things are improving? How about you come and spend a few days in a hospital on the shop floor, or in general practice and then make these ridiculous claims.

I promised to pick the NHS up off its knees and that's exactly what we're doing. I’m proud that this year, the NHS has now delivered 5 million more appointments than last. This Labour government is building an NHS to be proud of.

@DrVoles Whilst everyone is bickering over who is worthy of the best salaries the billionaires are laughing at us all the way to the bank. It’s not a race to the bottom. Drs are not the enemy. Blame successive governments for screwing working people.

I'm not a Resident Doctor. I am privileged enough to pay for a cleaner. I pay my cleaner £25 per hour. Resident Doctors are asking for less than that. My cleaner makes my house smell nice. A Resident Doctor will save your life. #Strikehard

Better advisors needed @wesstreeting If you are going to tell the public that there are more GPs, they are rightly going to expect their local practice to have more access Sadly the way GPs have been recruited isn’t leading to more appts or more GPs

@DrSdeG That’s why I feel a job in GP is only sustainable for about 25 years. I don’t want the decision making responsibility anymore I’m tired.

Talking to someone very sensible today and came to the conclusion, that despite being good at this after 25 years , being in urgent care or GP (and most clinical jobs in NHS) requires such an overriding of normal emotions and fatigue whilst making thousands of complex decisions....that it is not sustainable in any way

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene refuses to take a question from a British journalist saying, “Ok we don't give a crap about your opinion and your reporting. Why don't you go back to your country” I guess Keir Starmer hasn't told her about the special relationship 🤷‍♂️

@pixie_duff @DrHWazir @wesstreeting Because the money is being poured into the ARRS scheme meaning partners can employ PAs from this pot but not GPs. The money needs instead to go direct to partners and let them decide where they spend it ( eg on actual doctors not pretend ones)

There is an unreported crisis happening in General Practice. 1 in 5 GPs are considering changing their career because they can’t find enough/any work. Some are driving for Uber instead. We are forcing GPs out of the NHS just when patients need them the most @wesstreeting.

@SophyRidgeSky Great piece of journalism @SophyRidgeSky . As a doctor, the passing of the bill is unnerving. I can’t imagine any drs signing off on an assisted suicide without a high court judge at the very least. It is already a shambles. Something this important needs better leadership.

I did something unusual this evening: playing an interview filmed last night that now seems completely out of date. Which is basically breaking all the rules of television and journalism. But there's a reason 👇

Teenagers are applying to study medicine not knowing the dire reality of being a doctor in the NHS. They will do a 6 year medical degree and take on a 100k student loan, just to end up unemployed at the end of it. 1000s of doctors are unemployed because they cannot get into speciality training. This is because there aren’t enough training numbers for them. The government can choose to increase training numbers but are deliberately restricting them. This is because they would prefer UK doctors to be unemployed and desperate. This leads to doctors having no choice but to accept poor pay and conditions within the NHS. This isn’t a failure of workforce planning. This is a deliberate dismantling of the doctor workforce. When you can’t see a specialist, when you have to wait days to see a GP, or hours queuing up outside A&E, ask yourself why. Those responsible should be resigning in shame.

@medicalmodelbri @DrNeenaJha The partners here should be ashamed of themselves. No thought into the wellbeing of their patients. Would they be happy for their family members to be registered I wonder?

Your taxes are being misused to hire Non-Doctors, even though fully qualified doctors are Unemployed. ‘ GP kit bag and all kit provided ‘ (except stethoscope) If I had to highlight the red flags on this ad the whole thing would be highlighted. Have a read @DrNeenaJha

@wesstreeting I’ve been a GP 20 years @wesstreeting and can’t get work. So please explain to the public why this is? Oh yes core funding is pitiful, partners can’t afford the number of GPs they need and you want to flood general practice with ARRS staff. That’s why people can’t see a GP

We have to do things differently. I'm instructing the NHS to fix the fundamentals. It needs to deliver on patients’ priorities – shorter waiting times, being able to get a GP appointment and ambulances that arrive on time. telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/01/2…

@Roddy_Neilson Frightening to read how he overestimates his capabilities with such limited training. I wouldn’t like to be a patient at that practice with one of the health issues he’s listed.

@DrSdeG Our local hospital is constantly Opel 4. Managers in a panic. Meanwhile the moral injury to the hospital doctors treating elderly patients with hip fractures in the ‘ fit to sit ‘ area is horrific. Fed up with NHSE trying to pretend it’s not that bad. It’s diabolical and unsafe.

Except this isn't true is it? What is an actual tangible plantbag makes a difference? Declaring major incidents doesn't, declaring random colour and number status doesn't. New ways of working make NO difference in the ambulance queue of very sick people. Septic patients in the waiting room, potential brain bleeds in the waiting room, acute asthma in the waiting room. Resuscitation in the waiting room. All real cases.
Amanda Pritchard@AmandaPritchard

We have plans in place to manage extra demand – we use critical incidents to manage and monitor pressures, we have more beds than we did last year and we have new ways of working which ensure people can get cared for at home.
