My senior students took a moment to recognize that it was their “last” first day of school by going back to how it all started, coloring in their 1st day of school poster. They also sent a 1st day pic to the adults in their life who have supported them. Here’s to a great year ❤️

Gov Ss researched data on Open Secrets to examine the role of lobbying from major tech companies (Bytedance, Meta and Google) & its impact. Next, ss will examine the bill H.R. 815 (foreign aid & Tiktok Ban) & it’s path to being signed into law in April.

We said goodbye to our seniors today in Current Issues. We also played one last current events Friday trivia game. Team “Ghakky” took the final win. We wish you all the best Class of 2024.

Hope Shelters uses these donations to provide basic necessities to those experiencing homelessness in and around our community. I am so proud of our RHS students who helped with this charity drive.

Our @RHSgirlup spent the last two weeks collecting donations of items for a local non profit called Hope Shelters in Pontiac. We were able to collect over…104 boxes of Kleenex, 18 ponchos, 16 umbrellas, 70 bags of cough drops, 11 pairs of sandals, rain jackets, & earbuds.

Current Issues students connected this year’s record breaking NCAA Women’s March Madness Tournament 🏀 to equity issues in sports, society and the impact of Title IX. Students used the @eduprotocols “Number Mania” to highlight these issues by creating infographics. @RHSFalcons

My gov students were excited to try out the new collaboration spaces that opened up today @RHSFalcons. Ss worked in small groups analyzing the articles of the Constitution with a digital scavenger hunt activity.

Next, Ss used the class compiled data from their peers to create info-graphs focused on a more specific topic. This was all completed in just one class period.

This was my first time using “By the Numbers” activity & would definitely recommend for any subject area. Ss analyzed information on statistics, proposed legislation & local data. Ss added their findings to a shared google sheets where we had over 40 pieces of data in just 10 min

After hearing from last week’s guest speakers from Families Against Narcotics, current issues Ss explored the opioid epidemic and its history. Today we ended with the @eduprotocols “By the Numbers” lesson frame to further explore this topic with a collaborative activity

Our awesome RHS Girl Up club members putting together our “take what you need” feminine product carts that will be near bathrooms and accessible to students. We are excited to see this idea be implemented into a project that will benefit their school community 💗

The Dream Team back with another Friday win for our weekly current events trivia game.

Current Issues Ss were heated in today’s Trivia Friday game. Every Friday, Students compete in 10 rounds of questions based on current events from that week. “The Dream Team” celebrating their victory while holding up their week 4 trophy.

Ss realized the lack of unity and efficiency among the states under the Articles and why there was a need for our U.S. Constitution.

Poor Delaware was all alone with only three blocks. Delaware struggled to pass any new rules to help. Virginia made an agreement to provide blocks in exchange for blocking any new “rules” that targeted them.

Gov ss simulated the Articles of Confederation by playing the block game by competing with one another to build the tallest fortress. Blocks & people were passed out based on population. States could propose new rules to the game if they had 4/5 states to agree.
