@missdcox I have tried to become more aware of my language especially when teaching Christianity to try and avoid exactly that. Previously never realised how much I did it.

I know I’ve posted about this before but I feel that this term I’ve noticed it more. Christianisation of language. Just read something saying that Sikh ‘Amrit’ is not ‘baptism’. And use of Christian language in RE ‘Jesus died to save us’. I feel this is confessional language.

If there’s one plea I could make ahead of GCSE results day tomorrow, it’s in the way the media and other commentators talk about GCSE grades. Grades 1-3 are not fails. Us or Xs are. Anyone with a 1-3 HAS GOT A GCSE. And for some of those kiddos, a 1 or a 2 or 3 can be a phenomenal result that they deserve to be proud of. Let’s be a bit more responsible in our language.

@MrsKellyRS they have 'tick' marks for questions 1-4 and a level for question 5 (AQA). This is an attempt to reduce the immediate judgement of a mark!

@missdcox Do they have marks on them? This time my lot do, but final round of mocks is in Feb and may try to not put marks straight on to papers then. If they see the marks I imagine is the same as grades to a point.

In the study students who received their grades at the same time as their feedback made almost no real improvement in a later assignment. Where students who received their feedback and then grades after a three-day delay performed 21% better.
