There is a lot of focus on changing ‘what’ we teach girls in PE... what about a focus on ‘How’ we teach them. We don’t always remember what we did in a lesson but we remember how we were made to feel telegraph.co.uk/sport/2019/06/…

@ThePEUmbrella @Lee_Sullivan85 The conversation around primary teachers being best placed to teach PE, especially teachers who might have had negative experiences growing up. I often find they teach PE with such care, kindness and creativity. I learn most working with these teachers.

@Lee_Sullivan85 A primary teacher vented to me today -the recent requirement for over complicated summative assessment data across all foundation subjects to be recorded and shared with SLT. Adding to massive workload and doing a disservice to the uniqueness of these precious subjects.

Assessment is a contentious topic in PE that many want more clarity and direction on. Read my latest blog on what I believe to be the true purpose of Assessment in PE. I would love to hear your thoughts… pescholar.com/insight/the-pu…

If you could ask someone to create a resource or something downloadable on @PEScholar that would support you in PE, save you time & have a positive impact on your students, what would it be? I will take a look at some suggestions and see if I can help & get creating/writing 👍

@IAnsonC @LPESSN @afPE_PE But mostly stick to your guts about your provision and don’t be swayed by a few loud voices… there’s a temptation to keep a few happy at the expensive of the quiet majority #harmfreePE

@LPESSN @afPE_PE Think this might be the way… but workload on staff & dept at end of busy term is a factor to consider for us. The workload behind these events is massive. But ❤️ more sport & PE I suppose.

We’ve developed a yearly sports day festival with enjoyment, active participation & inclusivity at the centre. There is some resistance to move to a more traditional ‘watch the best perform’ from others. Thoughts at #edutwitter & PE family… @afPE_PE

@IAnsonC @LPESSN @afPE_PE What about a sports day festival that culminates in optional competitive races? That way you don’t have to organise two events..I’ve seen this format work really well in primary settings… just don’t do a parents race at the end 🫣 🚑 🚑

This is an article and a half. At our place we bounce around physical literacy as a term. But @LizDurdenMyers thoughts I’m this piece are just perfect… ‘A ball rolling to you in the park & having the confidence to pick it up, throw it back…’ what an analogy 👏🏼

PE teachers… should we strive for ‘excellence’ or is moderate competence enough? Check out my current thinking in my latest blog below. Would love to hear your thoughts… pescholar.com/insight/is-mod…

My first ever football tournament. Turns out football is bloody hard.. I have no left foot. We lost 5 games and drew 1. We loved every minute and the 11 year old girl in me that never got to play was buzzing ⚽️ #bushyparkladies

@LloydAmber @BrentfordFCCST Amber I first met you at Crane Park where you inspired loads of young children everyday. You’ve always worked hard and walked the talk. Thank you also for the opportunity you’ve given my daughter at Brentford You should feel so proud x

@SRoadleySEND_PE I found secondary school became a lot about friendships for the girls. We once organised a PE trip to Nandos. It meant the girls could hangout with friends they had made through sport. We gave out some awards. We tried to build a sense of community, friendship and belonging.

My children both attend/attended a primary school graded by ofsted (twice) as ‘requires improvement’ they both thrive/ed at this school. I couldn’t fault the education, sense of community and nurture they receive there. Ofsted gradings are a snap shot and not the reality.

I spend way too much of my time filming & organising GCSE PE moderation evidence. 😡
