English language paper 1: extract was The Midwich Cuckoos. I think the extract tricky; quite subtle. Difficult concepts. Sophisticated vocabulary. Q5 prompt was not as disastrous as the 2023 or 2024 offerings.

@amymayforrester @UKLabour Agree. There’s an utter charlatan out there saying she can predict the A level papers and then offers online tuition for £65 an hour!

If @UKLabour need some teacher votes, a sure fire way to guarantee some would be to ban TikTok “examiners” or “subject experts” who genuinely pose a risk to students’ outcomes by chatting absolute hogwash. I am using my filter a lot here. A big lot.

If there’s one plea I could make ahead of GCSE results day tomorrow, it’s in the way the media and other commentators talk about GCSE grades. Grades 1-3 are not fails. Us or Xs are. Anyone with a 1-3 HAS GOT A GCSE. And for some of those kiddos, a 1 or a 2 or 3 can be a phenomenal result that they deserve to be proud of. Let’s be a bit more responsible in our language.

Who would have guessed it, all the people who 'predicted' the question and 'knew' what it was going to be were wrong. What a total surprise.

@mrs_denglish I heard one say it would definitely be Macduff… I told the kids if they pick a character not in the play until act 2 scene 3 that’s pretty wild 🤣
