I am thinking of doing a Lead Practitioner course (paying for it personally). A LP mentioned that it’s usually a title invited by the school, but mentioned it’s still worth doing. Has anyone else done it of their own accord? @LeadPract

My new form clapped, whooped and cheered when I told them today that I would be their form tutor next year 🥹 what a lovely boost!

Guys…a colleague is leaving for a pastoral role. What are pastoral must haves?! What couldn’t you get through the day without? (I’m putting the leaving present together…) #edutwitter

Submitted a PhD application on Wednesday night, and the references have already been requested. My school contract has been extended. I celebrated by buying yummy food, but being too tired to cook it 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

New Year’s resolution: to leave 30 minutes LATER in the morning so I’m not over an hour early each morning 💁🏼‍♀️ #lookafteryourself

I’ve started writing a PhD proposal and I can already feel imposter syndrome kicking in. Any advice? @AcademicChatter

@MrsLHistory @AcademicChatter For me (still working on the PhD, in year 5), I’ve found solace in thinking of my work more like a craft than a production. As I work in a wet lab, one way I channel this is by focusing on my hands as I perform experiments. They move so differently than when I started.

@MrsLHistory @AcademicChatter just remember that phds investigate "unknown stuff"... by definition, nobody is expert on that, otherwise it can't be unknown! it's okay to feel like you know little about in... if anyone knew it, there would have been no need to investigate it in the first place!

@MrsLHistory @AcademicChatter I agree it's totally normal but don't give up. This won't be the only time but there's a huge community to support you so keep chipping away on the days you can. On the days it feels too hard have a rest. It will be easier next time you sit down to it. You've got this. Good luck!

@MrsLHistory @AcademicChatter I wrote a whole thread about this - it is totally normal and over time you will overcome it! twitter.com/Artifexx/statu…

Are you feeling like an Imposter in academia? Good, you share something with A Einstein, M Curie and 70% of #ScienceTwitter. Imposter syndrome is built on 3 psychological effects: - Dunning-Kruger Effect - Confirmation Bias - Modesty Bias This 🧵 is about disarming them⬇️

@Sad_Haque Thank you! I’m on a bit of a time crunch with this one, but put the laptop down after I started to have a spiral!

@MrsLHistory @AcademicChatter Would you consider yourself a ‘lifelong learner’? Someone who is able to question and rethink what they thought they knew? If the answers to these questions are ‘yes’, then reframe. You’re not an imposter, you’re a ‘lifelong learner’. That reframing has helped me - then write! ❤️

@MrsLHistory @AcademicChatter I came to understand this is part of the process; belief, doubt, more doubt, belief. You learn to do a Phd by doing a Phd. Each section, each aspect, can be confounding, keep going, get support at all stages, wee breaks are ok, but keep going...you'll do it. (Got it at 58).

@MrsLHistory @AcademicChatter The best way to a successful proposal and even the PhD itself is a good literature review. It answers most of the present and future questions on ur topics. Gives you confidence in your work......
