We ended our lesson with subitizing. How long do we need to know how many? About ½ second! What TWO questions do we always ask? How many, and how many more makes the next multiple of 10. Daily subitizing is the key to number sense and Base 10 thinking. Kids love it!

@DrMattGutierrez So SB9 will only apply for the 23-24 school year? Did this get approved for next year for sure? I thought they voted no to any funds that would increase teacher pay. I also thought that the only my way to increase teacher pay was via the Teacher Incentive Allotment.

TEA’s Teacher Vacancy Task Force final report was released back in February. It focused on 3 key areas: Compensation, Training/Support, & Working Conditions. What happened to #txlege focusing on these key areas? Instead bills such as #SB8 are attempting to divert monies from #txed and add additional testing. #SB8 that aims to divert monies from #txed along with additional testing. #SB9 creates Teacher Retention Allotment to increase teacher salaries by $2K in districts with 20k+ students, $6K in districts with less than 20k. Only to be provided in the 2023-24 school year. #HB100 increases student allotment by $90 from $6,160 to $6,250 rather than what is needed. What can you do?
