It is with great sadness that we share the news that Graham Thorpe, MBE, has passed away. There seem to be no appropriate words to describe the deep shock we feel at Graham's death.

Just to let you know that I have today stood down as a #GBDoc volunteer. I somehow inherited the GBDoc 6 years ago and during that time I’ve worked with some great people and seen some great changes with new accounts etc. The team are still here for you, nothing changes there 💙

@irenep671 I have but it’s never been accessible before. I was offered it as 5 full days but was unable to get the time off work, then when I had my children they were not of school age & had no childcare available for the whole week. The online afternoon sessions are perfect for me

So after being type 1 for 27.5 years I am 2 weeks away from starting DAFNE in order to get on the way to a pump. I am doing it via Teams over 4 afternoons. 2 in Nov and 2 in Dec! Can’t wait! But the workbooks looked a bit mind blowing! #diabetes #type1diabetes #T1D #DAFNE

@MrsPTweeting It’s a good course Kirsty. I learnt a few new things! Don’t feel daunted. It’s all pretty straight forward and you are familiar with most of it

@Kes_t1D_SW I’ve never been able to do the course before as it was inflexible and 5 days, and with 2 young children it just wasn’t doable. The remote sessions split up into afternoons fit me much better 👍

#GBDoc 27.5 yrs for education. Let’s change this

@DiabeticDadUK Comments like that are the reason why people with diabetes are terrified of handing their care over while in hospital. Unless I was unconscious I am doing my own meds!

@DiabeticDadUK A DSN told me (aged approx 19/20) that I wouldn’t live until 30 if I carried on the way I was going. Horrified as my results weren’t even that bad. Changed surgery and DSN a week letter and met an amazing nurse who was so supportive. Never forgotten that conversation.

Threats. I was just discussing the threat of a "tour of the amputations ward" issued to me by a DSN in the late 1980s. Horrible, of course. It never happened, and it absolutely didn't improve my T1D management. Have you ever had a similar threat? #Diabetes #GBDoc

@cljull96 Were you able to just ask to switch over? I am using Libre 2 but when I trialled the Dexcom I much preferred it
