I was asked, how do you help Ss who have built up walls? Build #relationships that help Ss climb up on top of their wall where they have the opportunity to #hope bc Ss w/ walls have lost their hope.

@SteeleThoughts My ? what do u give up if u study more. I like their discipline of studying, I don’t like the life unbalance that goes along w/it. Take what + u can from it, but don’t sacrifice at the cost of living life. Every Asian college Ss I talked to later said they studied too much in HS

@SteeleThoughts I lived in a suburb LA, 90% population Asian & they went to school 8am-8pm. School would pull my daughter out of elementary class to teach Ss how to make friends due to lack of relationship building skills. Asian Ss not allowed to be in athletics, so many decisions made for them

Data show that Asian kids study more than white kids. Does that mean there is something wrong with the culture of white kids?

@DrBradJohnson As an ISS teacher, I do my best to get my Ss moving 2-3 times a day. I teach them the benefits of physical activity. It hurts me to hear other Ts tell them they have to “earn” PA. No, PA is essential just like lunch is essential! #PhysEd #education #movement

#physed Ts life:you’re moving across the US & you’re having to discuss what to get rid of bc there’s not enough room to take everything & u don’t want to get rid of the cones bc they’re really nice cones & u have a 5 min discussion about how u don’t want to leave them behind.

In my Ss #reflection at the end of the school yr over half stated they felt safe being uncomfortable trying new things that led to them being creative in class. #physed is an excellent environment to help Ss learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable if we create it. #highschool
