Ryan's doing a lot of formal announcements this week, he'll come into a room and say "I'm going to eat my breakfast","Im going to go to sleep", or like just now "I have woken up" sometimes its accompanied by a lavish hand gesture , I think hes seen it on a tv programme and is copying something he's seen 🤷‍♂️

@Sally_writes @johnnygg23 Yes definitely ticket machines - usually just outside the station entrance (car park side rather than platform).

@johnnygg23 Thank you! What about a kid who doesn’t have Internet on their phone (and is travelling without adult knowledge). Are there ticket machines on some platforms….? (Please say yes 🫣😂)

It’s only when you get feedback on your latest book that you realise just how out of touch you are with some elements of the real world after being housebound for so long 🙄 Soooo, help please! 1) What are takeaway coffee cups made of these days? 2) Do railway stations….

@ClrBlwrs @Sally_writes Yes you can book online or on an app like Trainline. Sometimes you then get e-tickets as an email or on the app, but sometimes you have to print them at the ticket machine. Not sure why 🤷‍♀️

@Sally_writes I got a train for the first time in 10 years, my teenagers had to help me book tickets :) I think most people book online then the ticket is a QR code on their phone that the the conductor swipes, that's what most people on our carriage did.

@SmallSchool_KS2 @etaknipsa @the_VHT Exactly, don’t go beyond the NC content unless there’s a very good reason to. Look at how long is needed to teach the objectives and allocate that amount of time.

@etaknipsa @the_VHT I agree. Some units in NC can be covered in a couple of lessons, but we always seem to make them last a half-term! The one that always springs to mind for me is the “Space” unit. Can be done in not much more than 2 afternoons.

We’re thinking of putting our big girl and boy pants on this year and reducing the load on our curriculum so it actually fits in (revolutionary I know lol) what would you do less of if you could? The only thing we’re married to is our daily independent reading time & story time

@MrBoothY6 There’s The Eighteenth Emergency - I didn’t suggest it before because the father works away so the main character misses him, but there’s no actual death so might be worth a look.

I am still on the hunt for any great Year 6 appropriate books that do not feature any family death, especially parental. Please help a guy out - even if it's to plug your own book!

Never on here these days, so doubt this will be seen, but I'm doing the Barnes Kids Lit School programme this year. 4th of June. Free to attend, schools just need to sign up via the Barnes Kids Lit website. It's for Y5 & Y6 and completely free of charge. RTs appreciated!

@CassHT In fact you could probably read both in a term as both quite short.

My wife is out tonight, so I want to watch a sh*t film. Enter Nicholas Cage... Disney+ has these three classics available. Which shall I watch?

My new book, Primary Reading Simplified, is released this Monday (27th January). Briefly, I'd like to explain why it exists, who I think will find it useful and where you can find it. >>

The second of my whole staff webinars is taking place in March! It focuses on how we teach chronology and why I advocate for this way based on research and classroom experience. If you'd like a quote, drop me a message or comment with how many classes you have per year group!

@nkl_17 @shadylady222 Agree with tonic water, that usually stops it quickly for me. Also trying not to get too cold, tired or dehydrated.

I already take magnesium supplements, but have very restless legs in the night and someone told me that magnesium butter rubbed on the feet might help. Anyone tried it?
